Just out of curiousity-if you're willing to share- how much did your DJ cost? We found one we like & we were told the price was $800. In looking at other DJ's, our price quotes were for 6 hours & come to find out at contract time, it's $800 for FOUR HOURS!! It's also $100/additional hours. That seems like a lot, but I have no idea. My fiance keeps saying we're paying for quality, but it just seems like a lot to me. My fiance's mom is also friends with the lady that we found him through (she has an entertainment company), so I'm sure there's a finders fee in there somewhere. The DJ has his own company, but since he was found by us through this woman, we apparently have to go through her. 

Am I wrong about the price?? Thanks!

Check the vendor sticky at the top.  Most people have the prices listed for their vendors - including DJ.

Ours is $650 for unlimited hours, though that was a wedding show special. I think its normally $795 for unlimited. We are going with Sunshine Dj. He was reffered through the stickies.

Ours is $550 for 6 hours. He did a friend's wedding and we loved him. Nate from Moonboogie Media. (I do believe this is his off-season pricing though)

Ours was $400 for 4 hours. That was just a music package. He really worked with us to get us what we wanted. And he did an AWESOME job, we will most surly be using him again for any other big parties that we have. I read somewhere that metro-detroit average price for a dj is 800-1200. We went with Mike Staff for $1095. it's the only company that i've ever seen at a wedding and thoroughly enjoyed.
