Hi Melhunny,

It looks like you had a beautiful wedding! Congratulations! Your pictures are gorgeous and I really like the fun ones you took, too (e.g. you and the bridesmaids splashing in the fountain in Kellogg Park with rain boots on). :)

Was your reception at The Meeting House Grand Ballroom? If so, I was wondering if the construction posed any problems. My wedding there is coming up soon and I'm thinking I may need to warn people about the construction downtown.

Thanks and best wishes :)
Michelle

    Michelle,

The construction actually *was* a problem.  We spoke with the city as well as the construction workers a few days before the wedding and were assured that there would be no construction going on the Saturday of my wedding.  Low and behold, we get down there and turns out they are doing some serious work with heavy machinery.  They could *clearly* see a wedding was going on and weren't stopping.  We sent two GMs down to talk to them and ask if they could take a 20 min break.  They told us we could have 10 and that was it.  And, sure enough they promptly started up the machines 1/2 thru my ceremony.  Kind of rude if you ask me.

As for directions.  On our invites, we sent everyone down 275, to Ann Arbor to Main.  The signs on Main are very well marked that you continue straight to the Meeting House.  We didn't have any trouble with people getting there.  However, if they are coming from a different direction they may have problems.

    Melanie,

I'm so sorry that they didn't stop using the loud, heavy equpiment long enough to get through your entire ceremony! That is rude! Especially seeing as you contacted them in advance and they assured you that contruction would not occur during your cermeony. Despite the noise, I hope your wedding was everything you dreamed it would be.

Thank you so much for answering my question and giving me a heads up on the construction and what you experenced. I really appreciate you taking the time to help me out. Enjoy your wedded bliss!
