flowers/centerpiece cost

Okay, so I'm having a large wedding, and I got a quote of 2800 from a home based florist for the following:
30 centerpieces (about 50 each, very floral with candles also)vases and centerpieces for head tablebridal bouquet (100- cala lillies and roses)8 bridesmaids bouquets2 jr bridesmaids bouquets2 flower girl flowers12 boutsbows for the pews alter arangement for church
I live in Livonia, and I think this is a good deal from what i've heard. but it's hard to swallow paying so much. think it's a good deal?

That's a lot of flowers, but also a lot of money.  IMO, a home based business doesn't have the overhead of brick and mortar businesses.  I would check around before you commit to them.  If you find other places cheaper but you really like this person's work then tell them. If you were to say something like "I really like your work but I just don't think I can afford that much money into my flowers, can we talk about the price" I'm sure they would work something out for you.

    Good luck!

    I have 15 centerpieces, 7 groom bouts, 6 BM bouq, 1 bridal bouq, 5 single roses (mom/grandma), and 2 bags of rose petals...and I'm paying 750+/-.

    I'd definitely call around.

I think that price sounds great. I'm using April Oboza (works out of her home also) and have less than half of what you have (mainly that I only need about 14 centerpieces, no church decorations and we have 3 people standing up with us on each side) and I'm paying about 1K.

To me, it sounds like a good price for all those flowers, but so much depends on what kind of flowers you're using!  If your nervous, it certainly wouldn't hurt to get a second (or even third) quote.  Take a look at the sticky post at the top where everyone listed their vendors and call some other florists.  Then you'll have a better idea of what a "good price" would be for your particular flower order.

If you're looking to cut costs, you could alternate centerpieces - have an A and a B centerpiece design, and alternate every other table.  A could be the floral one you picked out and B could be something non-floral, like just candles or a pretty lantern, or even just a single stem vase w/ candles.  I've seen a lot of brides doing that lately when they have a lot of tables, and it looks really nice!  You still get that floral "look" to the room, but it should cut your centerpiece cost in half!

I'm having similar to what you are--although 18 floral centerpieces 12 tree/candle centerpieces--but everything else is about the same and I'm paying $220 through a home-based florist.  I might shop around; although depending on the type of flowers you have, $2800 might be reasonable.

Like pp said, home-based florists don't have any overhead, you shopping around might get you a better deal

I found a florest in Dearborn that is doing our flowers (myself, 6 bridesmaids, 3 moms, grandmas, 10 boutiners toss bouquet and a memory bouquet)  centerpieces for 20 tables (no flowers) and chaircovers for 200 people for $800.  I went to 4 florists and each one knocked a little off.  I would definately shop around a little.

At home florists will have some overhead. They still have to buy everything, have a place to store the flowers so they wont wilt and transportation, and their time is valuable too.

That seems like a good price to me. You have alot of flowers and center pieces. My centerpieces are 65$ so youve got me beat on that!

But it doesnt hurt to shop around and like others have said you can mention you dont have that much in your floral budget and see if she comes down. if she does good work than shes worth it!
