Reception Sites in Detroit

I will be getting married in May of next year and have the church reserved already.  We are getting married in Detroit and would like to stay in the Detroit area for the reception. 

Does anyone have any suggestions?  Some of the sites have outrageous rental fees JUST FOR SPACE!  Some charge for parking.  What have your experiences been with having the reception Downtown?  Just not sure where to beign!  HELP!

It would help to know how many guests you are expecting, and your price range/budget overall. I agree it can be pricey for desired locations in Detroit, but it's also a tough economy, and many of them are willing to negotiate.

Brandi gave you a great list.  I don't have any to add, but I believe the Belle Isle Casino will let you bring in your own caterer and possibly alcohol.  So even though you have to pay to rent the space, you'll save BIG money on food and alcohol.  Just something to keep in mind.
