bachelorette party ideas

Hi Everyone, I am sending this out on behalf of my sister (my MOH) and well I guess myself. I need ideas on a low-keyed bachelorette party. I am not a drinker or a big party girl so the typical bachelorette parties just aren't me. I also have one of my cousins (also one of my BM) that we would like to include but she is 17 so casinos are out. I think we were both thinking about a spa day and dinner in the city but we are both concerned about the cost. So if you guys have any ideas to throw out at us please do. I know normally the bride doesn't plan this but my sister asked for my help. I really wanted a nice spa day but I don't want it to be a huge expense on my bridal party. Thanks for all the help ladies!!!

A friend of mine did an afternoon tea for her bridal shower - I think it would be fine as a B-party as well.  Other unique ideas: paintball, bowling at the place in the Palisades Mall, or a nice dinner would be fine as well.

My girls are arranging a spa day bachelorette for me as well at the Ritz Carlton White Plains.  People are picking their own service, so they can tailor it for their budget.  And then we're all going to dinner and some bars after...we'r spending the night at the Ritz (I live in Manhattan).  If you want to go to the city, my sister had conected Ohm spa and they offered a special bachelorette special...you may want to look into them

I was in a wedding last year and planned the bachelorette with another bridesmaid.  We did a spa day and allowed about three hours for the spa...so we had everyone go to the website and decide what they wanted...I needed to know ahead of time for booking...this allowed each person to tailor it to their budget.  I asked the bride ahead of time what she wanted and in the e-vite, when we explained the cost, we gave an approx. price/person for her services.  We later did dinner at her fave restaurant...we split the bill by the number of attendees (excluding the bride).Since it was a two parter, this also allowed people to attend both events or only one depending on schedule and budget. And, it all worked out great...some people had massages with mani/pedis, some did facials with mani/pedis, and one girl did just a massage and hung out with the rest of us when we were "between" services.  It was a great time and everyone loved it.  for the spa, I think the cost per person on top of their own spa services was $50 (which was their share of the brides services plus a portion of the van we rented to take us to/from the spa...which was the best idea of the day!!!Also, sorry this is so long....we spelled EVERYTHING out in an email separate from the invitation...this way, everyone was clear that they could do what they could afford and had the option of one event or two.  hth!

For something TOTALLY different: I hinted to my MOH that it would be fun to go to a dueling piano bar. There's one in Times Square. I went to one years ago, and there was a b-party there and a couple of birthday parties. Just seemed like a fun idea. But a spa day sounds awesome too!

Mine was very low key as well..We went to the beach in the AM, and then headed to the spa.  Afterwards, we came back to the house we were staying at, and all made dinner together.  We had clams, shrimp, grilled pizza, and lobster.  I think in the end it was about 100 per girl, but that is because we went to a really nice spa, and they also brought a bunch of wine.

I am also looking for something low key but different and I told my MOH to look into a river cruise down the hudson as a possibility.  They have a few dinner cruises in the city too.

This is more of a "keeping it local" suggestion, but Westchester Broadway Theatre is having 42nd Street starting mid-September. That might be fun.  (Right now the show is " I love you, Your perfect, Now change" which is more relationship-minded. We are going at the end of the month to see it. And I am so excited!). But figured I'd mention the next show, which could work for a bach party. Just an idea. HTH Good luck!

BTW - The piano bar suggestion sounds really cool!

The piano bar sounds cool!  That would be fun and entertaining even without drinking.  Not sure if a 17 yo would be allowed in though.  I liked the suggestion of the spa and dinner and giving everyone the option of 1, the other or both and letting them pick their spa service.  I don't think people mind spending $$ as much on a spa service when they're getting the benefits.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone!!! Keep them coming and I will pass them to my sister for her to pick something for us all to do. The dinner cruise on the Hudson sounds really nice. It's something that at least I know we can all go to and it's something that none of us have done. I am still loving the spa day ideas. Maybe I will just talk to each of the girls and get an idea from them on what there budget might be. Thanks again!

We went to Misquamicut, RI and spent two days on the beach, and just hanging out.  There is a restaurant/bar there.  So you can go for dinner sit outside and I think that as long as your cousin isn't drinking there should be no problem with her hanging out (especially if your there from dinner).  They close at 1 anyway so even if she can't you won't be out that late and she really won't miss anything.

Maybe something like dinner theater would work.  I've done one called "Murder by the Mob" it was in the city, totally fun and great food.  I think it was like $50pp.  Those usually get the audience involved and they played music during that one so people could dance.BTW I love the paintball idea!  Get me some pink camo and I'm ready to go!

The dueling piano bar is ALOT of fun.  My friend actually owns the one in Times Square (Sweet Carolines) which is also a comedy club (HA!).  Def. call ahead about anyone undersage b/c I'm pretty sure there is a drink minimum per person.
