dress alteration price

I am looking to see what others are paying for alterations.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It really depends on what you need done and what kind of dress you have. My alterations will be about $175. My dress needs to be taken in about 3-4 inches on both sides and I also need a bustle. Some people may charge more if you need your dress hemmed. My dress has a lace overlay so I found shoes that will make me tall enough so I don't need to get it hemmed. I know someone that does alterations at great prices. Let me know if you want her number.

Agree with PP. My alterations cost over $200, but I bought my dress at a sample sale and it was three sizes too big, so I had to have it taken in, shortened, straps shortened, bustled and steamed (it's charmeuse and wrinkles easily).

Agree with PP. I bought my dress 1.5 yrs before the wedding and got the dress I loved off ebay for a steal. The plan was to lose weight and it would fit (bought 1 size smaller than I was at the time). My dress was very simple and was all satin. I had it expanded by 6in, hemmed and buslte and it was $60. I took it to her and it was completed in 8 days and that included the 4 day break of memorial day

Thank goodness, I didn't need a hem or any adjustments to the size!  I did, however, need significant work done to the bust area (it was made for someone with boobs about twice the size of mine, lol), the halter strap shortened to raise the neckline, and I got a bustle.  I was kind of surprised that it cost $160, but like others, I got my dress for a steal on ebay.  So even after alterations and shipping, I'm paying less than $400 for my dress! :)

I haven't done alterations yet, but I just wanted to say that every time I see your name, I think of Jessie Spano from Saved by the Bell.

    That is all.

My alterations were $220 - I had it hemmed, the sides, bust and hip taken in a few inches, the straps shortened and a bustle.

Like pps said - it depends a lot on what you need done and the dress (material, etc.)

I highly recommend seeing a seperate seamstress from the bridal salon - they tend to charge out the asz for alterations.

ETA - I forgot I also had cups sewn in.

170- taken in a tad, bustle, some boning put in to stay attached to the bra i'm wearing and some elastic in the back to ensure that it says up.

i had two fittings, and then i tried it on when i picked it up to make sure it was good.

I just had my first fitting last week and I'll be paying $375 for taking it in, hemmed, making a "little sweet heart" and bustle.  I didn't realize when buying the dress that it was pretty big on the bottom. I'm having 20 ties to bustle the dress, which is why my cost is so high..... I might have considered a different dress if I knew this is what it would cost!!
