Tell Us Tuesday

How was your halloween?  Any really cool costumes you saw?

Also, what was your favorite halloween costume you had as a kid?  Bonus points if you have pictures!

There were 2 really awesome costumes we saw in our neighborhood. 2 houses next to each other were decorated like grave yards and the guy had spiders on top of remote control cars and crap hanging from the trees over the sidewalks to scare you when you walked by. The guy at the house was dressed up as the grim reaper or something and he opened his door so the kids could go get some candy. Then he would bang the door to scare them. It was so awesome.

sorry for the bad pics, they're from my phone lol

Living in an apartment downtown doesn't really offer the option for trick or treaters. But we had a little thing for kids at work and there was a super cute little girl dressed as a dinosaur. So funny waddling around in her little dino suit!

I'm probably going to sound like a "Debbie Downer" but I can't help not posing on at least one Halloween thread.

I hate Halloween. Always have, always will. I cried when my mom made me dress up in 5th grade...it was the last year she made me do it. It's seriously going to be hard for me as a parent to "get into the spirit"...good thing I have Nate, hopefully he can conjure some Halloween goodness for our future kids.

I always end up working Halloween and the weekend around it because EVERYONE else has the day off and the unit ends up short-handed. (Seriously I put in 17 hours at the hospital on Saturday. At 11:30 at night, after being there since 7am, they still hadn't found an RN to replace me and the supervisor looked at me and said "Well, your contract says you can't work more than 16 hours but labor laws say you can work 20 if you feel safe...so, do you feel safe? Can you stay?" Umm...really? You think an ICU nurse should work more than 16 hours?? Her response: "Well it's Halloween, we have nobody to come in." SIGH. I was there until midnight before they "found" someone.)

There is one good thing about Halloween though. It is one of the best days of the year to hunt. Last year I had it off (because one of the nurses needed a day off and traded me) and I shot a 7 point buck just after daylight. Now THAT'S what I'm talking about!

    LOL....

Halloween was okay this year. There were not too many kids that came on our street. There are a lot of people with no porch lights on so I don't blame them for not wanting to go to the block with only a few houses. My favorite costume of the night came from my neighbors. She is in 2nd grade and she was Cleopatra. SO cute!

My favorite costume as a kid was probably the Wicked Witch or Dorothy. I am kind of obsessed with Wizard of Oz. I don't have any pictures of those costumes but I do have a few pics of my favorite pumpkins that we did a few years ago!

We bought five bags of candy, and...not a single trick-or-treat-er.
I'm going to be so fat.

Needless to say, I saw no awesome costumes.  Unless you count the "sexy kitty" and "sexy fairy" I saw flitting around campus.  Sexy kitty, you do not belong in my classroom.  Your sexy tail blocks the view of the board for people who want to, you know, "learn" instead of "look at your ass."

On Halloween night, didn't see anything.  We live in an apartment complex and I was sick as a dog.  :(  Over the weekend, FI won 2nd place for most original costume (he and his brother were dressed as Yip yip aliens from sesame street).

My Halloween was ok.  I missed most of the stuff though because I had to work and then had class.   :(

Apparently though we had a lot of kids and all of our candy was gone by the time I got home.

I have to say it sucked....royally.

I went over to Dan's house to pass out candy.  Last year he had about 100 kids in his mobile home community.  We figured at 2 pieces of candy each, that would be 105 covered.  I said if we ran out before 8pm we'd just turn out the lights.

I get over there about 4:30pm and he had bought a huge bag of Dum-Dums!  We order pizza and while he goes to get it, I put on my costume - my graduation robe and cap from college.

Absolutely NO KIDS showed up though the community watch group was out with their trucks and flashing yellow lights.  We called it a night at 7:15pm and then watched the DVD "Zookeeper" with Kevin James.
