Affordable Bridal Salons?

Hi All! I'm looking for suggestions for affordable bridal salons around the area (I live in Sterling Heights.) I'm on a really tight budget and hoping to spend under $500 (it's going to be tough, I know!) Any help would be much appreciated!

Honestly, David's Bridal. I don't know of many salons that are going to have dresses under $500...but I could be totally wrong. However, David's has a good selection and also has sales that can be hard to come by in salons as well.

ETA: Actually, you might also try some online outlets...JCrew and The Limited both have bridal dresses. Some can be surprisingly pricey, but I feel like I recall some good deals as well.

  • Check out The Brides Project in Ann Arbor.  They take cleaned, donated dresses and resell them at a great price.  Hope you find something great!
  • I second the Brides Project in Ann Arbor. The dresses I've seen there look pretty, and it's for a good cause.

Allesandra's Bridal in Warren may have dresses under $500. I got a sample gown about 3 years ago for about $235. I don't know when they have their sample sales, but I know some of the gowns are under $500 when regularly priced.
  • Also try Dior Bridal in Dearborn.  They have really pretty dresses that are inexpensive, but very good quality.  I tried David's Bridal.  Although they do have nice dresses, I wasn't too fond of the quality and all of the accessories, and undergarments I would have had to buy just to make the dress "the one".  And I also was not a fan of the customer service at David's Bridal.  The staff at Dior Bridal in Dearborn was very nice, attentive, accomodating, and listened to exactly what I wanted.

  • Thanks all! I've heard horror stories about David's Bridal so I was trying to stay away from them. I'll definitely check out the other suggestions though!
  • I am a fan of Sarah's Bridal and Prom in Milan on FB, so its a little far of a drive, but I guess on Black Friday they are having a huge sample sale where over 600 dresses are going to be $99-$199.

  • My dress is from Dior Bridal. I thought it was cheap -- it was $850. I don't know that I tried on any there that were under $500.

That's how much my dress is also.  The cheapest I tried on was a $650 dress.

I didn't see anything priced around $500 at Dior Bridal.  Most of the dresses I tried on were in the $900-$1,200 range.

I would recommend Miracle Wedding Village in Dearborn Hgts for lower priced gowns.  They also rent tuxes there.

And I had a good experience at David's Bridal in Dearborn.  I made an early morning appointment though so there weren't any walk-in customers and I got the full attention of the consultant and manager.

I also had a good experience at I Do Too Bridal in Plymouth, although I didn't see anything in the $500 price range there.
  • It might be tough to find an under $500 dress, expecially ordering it.  You might look for shops with larger "off the rack" options.  I know that B-Ella bridal in Northville had a good selection in their basement.  I'd call a few places and ask them about it.  It is in their best interest to give you a straight answer and hopefully it is good news.  Good luck!
