Wedding colors

I am trying to figure out wedding colors, as a starting point.  What are your combinations?  Did you just pick off of what you like or did you take into account the venue to make sure it fit ok?  We don't have the venue, so I don't know if I should wait.  A lot of places we have seen so far have horrible carpet with bright colors, so I don't know if I should wait....

We chose pink and gray, simply because I like them.  The other option was yellow and blue but FI adamantly refused.  We didn't really go along with anything having to do with our venue, and our ceremony is outside in a garden so we could have picked any number of colors going off of that.

That being said, I didn't "officially" decide on a color combination until we started looking to florists/floral arrangements and bridesmaid dresses, so you definitely don't need to worry about anything set in stone yet.  I would recommend just choosing a couple of different color palates that you like and start looking up pictures for inspiration.

My FI and I decided on blue and green because they are our favorite colors.  As for shades, that all depends on what shade has the most selection for dresses for the BMs.

We picked black and white because I love black BM dresses and I like how modern and classy that combo could be.  I added some purple because its my favorite color and we thought we needed some sort of accent color.

I didn't wait to pick the venue or anything but I did keep in mind nasty carpet...mine actually doesn't have carpet.

I'm with MMRoberts - we have our colors but we're not sure of shades until we look at BM dresses, tuxes, and linens...

Chartreuse, aqua/teal, and golden yellow.  It's going to look nice, I think.  We haven't found a venue yet, we just picked the colors.  The shades might change slightly, but not by much.

Black with green accents.  I always wanted black and then we added green as a secondary color because the ceremony was outdoors in the park and the reception hall had lots of green (especially the chairs, which I didn't want to cover).

While it doesn't HAVE TO coordinate with your hall, I would recommend waiting until you have booked a place.  I saw pictures of our hall with blue which I thought looked really bad and even if I had my heart set on blue, I would have chosen another color just because I thought it looked bad.  Just something to keep in mind.

But there isn't a huge need to determine colors right away, you could wait until a couple months out to figure that out.

We picked Eggplant purple and apple green. Purple is the main color with green as an accent color. I just went with a combination of colors I liked best. Plus I knew all my bridesmaids would look great in purple :)

This was the one thing my FI said was very important to him. He really wanted Royal Blue and Silver so I have tried to stick to these colors.

This website has a ton of color and shade ideas and combinations!

I was set on sapphire blue with yellow and pink flowers, but this website has me considering pairing the sapphire blue with a peacock feather palette. I have no idea yet, lol!

Our wedding is in Spring and right after Easter. With that in mind I didn't wont my wedding to look like an Eastery bunny. We choice Pink and Green at first because my fav color is pink and his green. Then when i started picking out Bridesmaids dresses, linen, chair covers and other stuff I looked at different tones of pinks and greens and desided that light green dresses look really good with hot pink flowers :) Just pick your fav colors and then play with combining different tones!
