Affordable DJs?

Hey everybody. I was just wondering what to expect (price-wise) when I am looking for DJs. Is it possible to find a good DJ for under $1000? Do you ladies have any recommendations? Thanks!

I've been on the KNot for over 18 months, and many of the local area former knotties gave high marks to the DJ we hired. His link is in my bio below, under the "vendor" tab.

He is also an officiant and provides bartenders, which was a real plus for us as we needed both.

What is your wedding date? If you're wedding date is in prime wedding season you should expect to pay around $1000, but if you're wedding is in the off season you will have a lot more dj's who will be willing to work with  on the price. One gf only paid $500 for her dj, but her wedding was in December.

We went with Liquid Entertainment out of the Flint area. They will go anywhere and the owner is a dj/producer from CK 105.5. He did my cousin's wedding a few years ago, and I remember it being a lot of fun. We are paying $600 for 5 hours for our reception in October.

I went with The Music Butler.  For our ceremony and reception he's charging us $800 including set up for both (indoor and outdoor) and his lighting set up.  A few others on here have used him as well.

Matt from WED is very reasonable, with add-ons, unlimited hours, and a great personality! Liz, the moderator, used him at her wedding and I've booked him for our big day on 11-11-11. [:

We are using 'Masters of Ceremony' for our 9.10.11 wedding. We booked him for $895, including his lighting package, ceremony music and reception. His name is Landan Vick and is a 30-something guy that seems pretty cool. I can let you know how he is in about 34 days. :)

I am using Dance Pro DJ Service and it's costing me $600 for 6 hours, and it's an additional $75 for every hour you need to add on after.  My wedding is also on a Friday so it's slightly cheaper.
