DJ/Videographer Recs

Photographer is basically a check so onto the next search!

I am looking for a different type of DJ. Not necessarily a club DJ but along those lines. Essentially I would like one who really spins and actually mixes songs. Just more of an "alternative" DJ and not a typical wedding DJ I guess lol.

As for videographer - I just want someone who is affordable and does a good job. Nothing special just want basic footage of our day. Definitely under $1000.

Ladies I need recommendations to get the ball rolling!

I don't have any recs for a DJ, but I definitely do for a videographer!  I used Shutterspeed Productions - www.shutterspeedproductions.com. She has packages under $1000 and does awesome work!!  I am very happy with my choice to hire her.  If you want, you can see my video preview in my Married Bio. :)

Most wedding DJs are horrible at actually DJing. It's no fault of their own, they basically play whatever the bride and groom want and DJs that don't know their records (or in the wedding industry, CDs) can't properly DJ. Find a few DJs you like and just ask them if they would play at your wedding. They might be willing to take a night off at whatever club they play at. Wedding DJs are horribly over paid for the crappy job they do.

On the other hand, most DJs that know what they are doing mmusic wise, don't have a clue as to how to handle the logistics of a wedding (i.e. first dance, toasts, etc.).

I'm having a friend DJ and hiring a DOC to just give them the heads up that, "hey it's time for toasts" or whatever.

we are using him for ours, and when we met him we talked to all about keeping music going based on beats per minute and stuff, he also djs at a club on a regular basis.  Plus he was just a nice guy.

As for videographer i can't help you there..i've found i'm just too cheap for one

We went through Mike Staff for both of them.  Our DJ (Erik Hodge) was amazing and our videographer (Jason) did an awesome job and the DVD came out fantastic!
