save the date question

I was just wondering if you are supposed to send a save the date to the officiant, Dj, etc.? I am not sure what to do.  Do I send them an invitation or just ask them what they prefer to eat?

Technically you don't have to send a save the date to anyone since they aren't mandatory by any means.  But you certainly wouldn't need to send them to vendors because your contract acts as a Save the Date.

That being said, I know I sent one to my photographer since she took the photo that we used and I sent one to our DOC because she mentioned she liked getting them.

As far as invitations, I know you're supposed to send one of the officiant but that's about it.

I think emarston explained it well, but I did send one to my officant because we are getting married at a church that we both grew up in and we knew the priest and nun fairly well.
