Video Montage?

Are you planning on having a video montage/slideshow at your reception? If so, when are you going to have it displayed? How many pictures are you using? Also, if you don't mind sharing, how much did it cost?

We are considering it, but are not sure if it's worth the cost.

you could do it yourself for free!! the you download photoshop elements trail you get it for free for 30 days than you just dont have to buy the actual program... there is a very easy way to make it with music and can later burn it to a dvd... if you want older pictures on there and dont have a scanner you can go to walmart and the can put them onto a cd for you! my sister is making ours and i have made them in the past this same way!

My mom loves scanning in pictures, putting together slideshows, etc.  She played around with a couple ideas for how to display some pictures without paying for a slideshow, projector, etc.  Also, we didn't want to force guests to watch anything, so we wanted it at a place where they could browse at their leisure.

Her first idea was a photobook made from a site like Shutterfly.  We ended up buying a 10" digital frame from BB&B that we loaded with pictures of me and Andy growing up and it will cycle through them in chronological order.  Our venue has an area outside of the ballroom that has a couple tables where people can gather so we were going to put the frame there so people can watch if they choose.

BONUS: we'll have many uses for the frame in the future.

I made one myself. I played it during the cocktail hour and it was on a loop since it is only 6 minutes long. I created it in Microsoft Movie Maker. It is a free application you can download. I don't remember how many pics I used though.

I am running out of time/ patience so I am having Forever Cherished Productions make mine.  It's $150 for 75 pictures, which he said is about a 4 minute song.  We are getting two dvds; one with audio and the other will just have the pictures so we can play it throughout the reception.

I'm not sure when we'll play it for the first time (first time= only time with audio).  I was kind of against "forcing" the guest to watch it too but my Mom has her heart set on it.  I was thinking during the cocktail hour or maybe while people are getting dinner.

jholbel - I love the digital picture frame idea!!  I was thinking of putting some of my scrapbooks out, but I am too worried that something might happen to them (ie, spilled drink or something).  A digital picture frame would be a wonderful way of showing some pictures of us over the years!!  ;)
