outdoor wedding

Hi Everyone,
I am new to posting, and I was just wondering if anyone had any advice about planning an outdoor wedding.
The venue I fell in love with is an outdoor venue. There would be a tent for dinner and a barn for dancing and cocktails. The barn is not air conditioned.
My parents are pretty traditional and are already somewhat against a non traditional wedding. So I am trying to find some information to make them feel better about the location I love.
Does anyone have advice about how to handle the weather situation? Ideas if it is really hot (it is ann arbor michigan in early July/ late August).
Is anyone planning an outdoor wedding, or recently been to an outdoor wedding and have any tips?
Any advice is completely welcome!
Thanks!

Summer + barn + no AC + a lot of people could be bad news, but I would talk to the venue and see what they suggest you do to combat the elements. I don't have much advice for you, but welcome to the board!

Are you looking at Cobblestone Farm? Will the reception be in the daytime or evening?
Yes, mid-summer could be very warm. Or not. Vats of iced beverages such as tea and herbed cucumber water in addition to the alcohol, large fans (if possible) to keep the air moving. What does the venue themselves suggest? You are hardly going to be the first wedding there.

I'd think a large tent for dinner outdoors would be very traditional! Reception halls are a 20th century invention! Anyway, didn't your parents already have their wedding? this one is yours.

Addison Oaks offers an outdoor ceremony site
Ann Arbor Botanical Gardens offers both ceremony and reception
Cobblestone Manor has an outdoor ceremony site
Victoria Wedding Chapel has an outdoor ceremony site
or just look at some Oakland County Parks!
I'm looking for a place where I can do both ceremony and reception in the same place, with a large party tent and catered. Trying to keep it simple and affordable.
