To those who hosted receptions in non-traditional venues, a restroom question...

We're having our wedding and reception at a greenhouse.  There are 2 bathrooms (as in, one door with a toilet, sink, etc, not a multiple stall situation) in a convenient and close proximity to the reception.  There are 2 other ones (same set up), but you need to navigate through corridors of plants and greenhouses and I will have to put up signs.

My basic question is, is that enough or should we rent a restroom trailor?  I'm reading online that an acceptable toilet to human ratio is anywhere from 1:50 to 1:200, depending on the event and who you ask.

Did anybody rent restrooms?  They're really expensive, so a referral to a reasonable company would also be much appreciated.  Thanks in advance! :0)

  • I think you would be fine without the trailer.  Our "traditional" venue had 3 stalls for men and 3 for women, and we had about 150 guests.  No problems.  I recently went to a wedding where they had ony 2 one-stalls for about 200 guests and there was not a line.  You'll be fine.

  • I think you'll be fine if you put up signs.
  • If you had signs to direct guests to the other bathrooms, is there a possibility they could "sneak off" to another part of the venue and cause michief? I mean, you know your guests best, and I'm not trying to accuse anyone, but as far as my guests go, I don't trust all of them, haha. If you think "no way!" Then I would definitely put up signs.

  • After thinking about it for a while, I think you guys are right.  We're skipping the extra restrooms.  We just can't budget an extra $1000 on it if it's not an absolutely necessary thing.

Milsey,  The whole nursery (9 acres) is open for guests to roam, so I'm not worried about anything weird happening.  They're all adults (no kids invited past the ceremony) so I really hope nobody would do anything weird.  I could envision some tom foolery, but nothing major that I would care about.  Thanks for bringing it up though, I hadn't even though about it lol
