marriage license

We applied online for the marriage license and can go pick it up Monday...it doesnt say anything about providing any divorce documents but did ask how many times we each had been married.  Does anyone know if we need our divorce decree??

Check out this link.  It sounds kinda vague so I guess it can't hurt to have it, just in case.

Previous Marriage:

You need to know the date (mm/dd/yy) and how the last marriage ended. If it was within the last 6 months, you will need to bring proof of the divorce that can be left with the Clerk.

One reader noted: "At least in Muskegon County, regardless of when the divorce was finalized, a copy of the divorce degree needs to be presented. (found out the hard way.)"

I saw that too...thanks!  Ill take them just in case...what a hassle

FI was married once before, and I brought his decree with me, and it wasn't needed.  the girl didn't even ask about the date when I went to pick it up.  (I applied online too - Oakland County).  Just SSN's & a copy of his driver's license.  good luck!
