Could you consider this a wedding favor?....

If I had a chocolate fountain set up at my reception, could I consider this the favor and not set anything at each place setting for my guests?  I can't afford the fountain AND favors, but know I want to do edible favors, so I wonder if the fountain would suffice?....

I don't think I would want to take fountain-ed items home with me (huge mess alert!), so I wouldn't consider it a favor  However, since you're not required to provide favors and tons of people don't, I don't think it's a poblem to spend the money on that instead of favors if that's what you want.

ditto PP.  Just do the chocolate fountain and don't worry about the favors.

ITA: make a choice with your budget that you have to, and no one expects favors.

What PP said.  Plus I'd rather be able to enjoy a fountain while we're there rather than take home some personalized stuff I'll probably never use.
