Registry Vent

Our wedding is still three-ish weeks out but I've been registry stalking and of the 4 gifts that were bought for us, 2 of them we didn't register for. What is up with that?

What is the point of a registry if people aren't going to buy what's on it?

Sometimes, if people buy something else with their purchase when they buy something off your registry, it gets added to your registry.  Even if they bought it for themselves or someone else.  So they may not even be for you.

Either way, its a gift.  So smile and say thanks.  :-)

    This.

If its something atrocious that you hate just return it later but be a gracious recipient after all, they didn't have to get you anything.

This happened to me too. We registered for a set of grey towels at Target, and somehow someone added an entire set of blue towels to the registry along with the other ones. The "Got It" quantity also shows twice as many as the "Want It" quantity. I'm not gonna complain, but I was wondering how this happened.

Another thing with Target... There was a bunch of stuff that we zapped in the store that doesn't show up when I look online, but it all shows up on the print-out at the store. Also, stuff that I've deleted online still shows up on the in-store print-out. It seems to have a mind of it's own.

I can relate. Although my story is a little different. For my bridal shower I got 2 bamboo salad bowls and I didn't even register for them! One is from Pampered Chef and the other from Avon. The problem now is that I want the pampered chef one and not the avon one but how in the world do I return it. There was no reciept and no mention of returning if I didn't want it or didn't like it.

The thing that gets me is that there is quite a bit more on my registry that they could have chosen from.

Oh well, like many have said it's a gift and I was gracious and loved them! (Just only want/need one). The best part about getting stuff from your registry or even a store is that you can return it and get what you wanted instead. :)

I wouldn't really complain about it. I noticed on our registry that someone bought some felt pads that you would put on the bottom of furniture. We'll take them if they are giving them to us. Just be happy you're getting gifts. Some people don't even have showers or guests don't have the finances to get gifts. Like pp said, be gracious and polite. Say thanks and if you don't like it, return it.

<div>I'm not surprised! Target is a nightmare for registries... I recently purchased a baby shower gift off a registry and even though the cashier scanned it, days later it still did not show up on the registry as purchased, so I took it back to the store and had them rescan it and then a few days later it showed some of the things I had purchased as if I had purchased 5 of them, and a few other things as purchased zero.  I've heard many stories of random things popping up on the registry request lists. Just google target wedding registry and most of the stories are complaints and bad reviews... make sure you have lots of gift receipts! </div>

Our Target registry is not accurate at all either!

I'm not complaining about getting the gift. I just don't understand what the point of a registry is if people aren't going to use it. We spent MANY MANY hours making that registry.

The point of a registry is to give people gift ideas but its not a required list of purchases. We got many gifts that weren't on our registry. Ulitmately what the person buys, if anything, is the gift giver's choice just because you registered doesn't mean your guests HAVE to buy the items you selected.

I can understand being upset with an inaccurate registry, but I wouldn't complain about the time it took you to create your registry, that was your choice. Just like the people who choose to give you gifts, they can choose to purchase off the registry or not.
Some of the coolest gifts we have received have been things I didn't even think to put on our registry.
