I got the fever....Bad!

Baby fever that is.  Me and FI have already talked about TTC starting the day after the wedding.  I discussed it with my Dr, he agreed on when to stop bcp, and even gave me a script for pre-natals to start taking when I go off bcp.  But right now it is really hard not to go off bcp and just see what happens.  And then I go over to the nest and see some girls having a hard time getting pregnant and it worries me.

Anyways, does anyone else have the fever?

Yes and no.  Some days I can't wait to start trying and other I feel like I don't know if I can handle it or do I even want too.  I like things the way they are but I've always wanted a family so I have no idea what's going to happen.

Yes, but I think FI has it worse then I do, he says he doesnt want to be an "old" dad:/  We've agreed to wait untill after I graduate college at least.

I have baby fever too. BUT, I will wait. I'm not in a rush. I just think I get so engulfed in all the baby talk on The Nest and I visit the Getting Pregnant board alot over there just to kind of get a feel for what to expect. Sure, it takes some women longer than others to get pregnant.  I for one did not want to be pregnant on my wedding day. So I made sure I took my pills! DH and I talked and we will start trying for babies this time next year and he is ok with that. I need to finish my Masters before I start focusing on something else!

I think the problem is that we are both a little older, ok him more so than me.  I am 30 and he is 42.  I don't want to wait to long and than have missed the opportunity.  Also FI was married previously and him and his ex-wife had tried and went through fertility treatments and everything with no luck.  I guess I just want to know if that is something we are going to be facing or not.  That, and whenever I see a baby I swear my womb hurts, like its missing something.

YES! We plan to TTC soon, but want to be sure we are in a good place financially first.

More than I would like to admit to anyone :/  FI practically announced our baby fever to his family a few weeks ago when we were out to dinner as he pointed to our niece and exclaimed that "she needs a playmate right away" and I nearly died of embarrassment.

I guess I have a hard time admitting that this fever has hit me because I'm not even quite 22 yet!  I'm hoping it goes away, but I doubt it.  I've already been setting goals in my head of what I'd like to accomplish before we try so that helps a bit.  I definitely do not want anything to interfere with me wearing my dress, that's for sure!

This was a big help a few months ago.  But now I am pretty sure if I get pregnant I could still fit in the dress with a bump.  That just shows how big it is on me and the fact that its only 5 months away.

I do!  But at the same time, we want to wait a year.

I hated the pill and wanted to go off it for a long time...but I was worried about being pregnant in my dress.  About 3 months before the wedding, I stopped taking it charting to avoid getting pregnant -- at the same time realizing that it could happen and we are OK with that.

At our 1 year anniversary, we will stop trying to avoid it and let nature take its course.  But if it happens before then, I won't complain.  :-)

I have it too!  We were originally going to wait a year after the wedding before TTC but I'm not getting any younger over here (33).  And I've seen on TN boards and IRL too many women struggling to get pregnant and/or having trouble keeping a pregnancy to full term and it's a little concerning.  I'm not being pessimistic, just realistic and so now we're not TTC or TTA, for a couple of months we're just going to see how things go.

Mrsbarstool2011, you didn't ask this question on my KOTW thread, but here's my answer:

What is your favorite part of having children (and/or, share something about your kids if you don't think they would mind too much!)? Again, so many things. I always wanted to be a mom, and I have not been disappointed in the least. My favorite part of being a mom is knowing that I have made these incredible human beings, they inherited part of my "me-ness", and will go out into the world and be their own people. They amaze me everyday with their uniqueness, yet I see myself in them in so many ways. There are no guarantees in life, you never know what you are going to get. But they are healthy, smart, and I couldn't have asked for a better gift in life than the two children I was blessed with.

FYI, I was 31 when I had my first child, 39 when I had my second (both birth control failures, after I had to stop taking BCP at 30 due to being a smoker).

If you are in good shape, there's no reason you have to worry about age. Infertility was not a problem for me, obviously, but keep in mind that the "end age" is being pushed out farther all the time, with healthy babies. I had amnio with my daughter when I was 39, she was fine, and still is except for the teen-hormone-insanity-independence-talk-back thing they all get.

I can't give advice on having your kids in your 20's, but I can say that your 30's are not bad. It was the healthiest I've ever felt, and even though I'll be an "old grandma" if they ever have kids, I know that I was mature enough to handle it when they did come.

I wish you all luck in this area!

Sue, that was very helpful.  My main concern is my mom suffered 4 still borns as she got older. That and twins scare the beejeesus out of me!  And with FI being 12 years older, we want he to still be as active as he is now with the kids.  And fertility becomes and issue with guys as they age too.

I have it! We are going to start trying right away too! Got my vitamin perscription .  Just out of curosity when did you and dr decide would be a good time to get off the pill?

I have it! I always liked kids but never really planned on having them until I met my FI - he definitely brought out the baby fever! I finally realized how much I wanted kids when I realized that I had found the perfect person to raise them with. Now I can't wait to be a mom and build a family.

We'd like to be married for a few years before we have kids so that we can travel. I already know that it will be difficult for me to get pregnant, so I will be more than happy whenever it happens :)
