Dancing in Metro Detroit

Hi Ladies,

I was wondering if any of you had suggestions for a fun place to go dancing for a Bachelorette party that isn't too young.  I like Deluxx in Detroit, but the BMs are worried people won't want to go since it's in Detroit, so I'm looking for some other options.

Thanks,
-Stacie

  • Frankly, I was going to suggest Delux. If your friends don't want to come to Detroit because it's too scary...well, then they're the perfect people to bring to Detroit. 1) Detroit is just fine (I should know, I live there) and 2) Delux is in Greektown, which on the scale of "just fine" is above just fine and downright safe. It's the epicenter of downtown as far as bar going for suburbanites and police are out and about.

I don't know too many suburban spots. Isn't there Coyote Joe's or something like that out in Utica/Shelby?

  • Detroit isn't scary. I mean if you're walking alone down a back alley at night then yeah I can see how you'd be scared. I am going to a b-party next month and I hope we go to Detroit!

But if your friends are set against going downtown, then I will go ahead and agree with Meegles. I went to Coyote Joe's for a b-party a few years ago and had a blast.

  • I live in royal oak and go to detroit a lot so for my b-party, the girls decided to do a few things differently. We took a limo to coyote joes first (it was pretty dead though but this was mid december, if you go at all when its warm then more people should be there) but we still had a blast with the mechanical bull and dancing. We then went from there to the locker room on hall road which was also a change of scenery and lots of fun. However, prob not good for dancing unless you are getting up on the bar (yes they let you do that!). Theres a lot of other places you could go for dancing depending on your taste, I have gone to boogy fever in ferndale on a couple bachelorette parties and had a blast dancing but it's a different atmosphere so not everyone will like it. Another alternative is Luna in Royal Oak which is known for being a dance place. At least if you are out in Ferndale or Royal Oak there are lots of places to move around to if you don't like the place you are at.
  • I went to Luna for a b-party. It was decent...packed, but dancing was definitely in full effect.

  • Hi Ladies,

I just wanted to say that *I* have no problem with Detroit; I live in Detroit and I love Detroit.  I don't think it's scary at all.  My bms however are concerned that other people would not attend if it is in Detroit, so I'm just asking for other ideas so that I can explore my options.  I really appreciate the suggestions.  Anyone know anything about Kickers in Livonia?  A friend suggested that one and I've never been there.  Thanks again for the suggestions and please keep them coming.

    -S.

  • I always take friends to Slingers in Livonia. It's more of a bar feel, but everyone gets drum sticks and you bang on everything. There are also bartender shows as well. I suggest reserving a seating area at the bar for te best seats in the house (even though you will be standing on them the whole time). If you are looking for reviews it used to be called py sticks.
