Newly Engaged, New to The Knot...where do I start?!?

Hi Everyone! I have to admit, I've been stalking the boards since I got engaged 2 months ago reading about all of the fun wedding planning you guys are doing, & I finally got the courage to post!! Laughing

So, in the 2 months we've been engaged, we've already set our date & got our reception site, booked our photographer, & booked our DJ! Crazy, I know....and I feel like I've gotten nothing accomplished!!! My next big dilemma...figuring out my colors! We're getting married on May 21, 2011, and I really like coral for the bridemaids' dress color. But what accent colors could I use? I feel like once I get my colors figured out, so much other stuff can be done! HELP!

Welcome and congrats!  I am a May 21 bride too.  Can you believe it's a year from Friday?

Does your FI have any opinions on the colors?  I think either a green or a blue would nice accent colors.

    Welcome & congrats!

Coral goes with a lot of colors.......brown, aqua, green, white. I always tell brides to go to the local home improvement store's paint area, find the paint sample for the primary color you want, and match it other paint samples. Easy & cheap!

    Good luck and welcome.

Thanks for the congrats! My FI really likes the coral color idea (since orange is his favorite color), and he doesn't really have too many opinions about accent colors. I've been seeing a lot of orange & pink combos, but I'm not totally set on pink (I'm not much of a "pink" girl).

We booked Murawski Studios for photography (he did a family wedding), and Jim Tedder Productions for DJ (he did 5 of my family weddings, so I know he's good!). So far, we've been happy with both!

I know this year will go by fast! I can't believe 2 months have already flown by! And congrats stebbe81 on your wedding this weekend! :)

I suck at colors but there are some good websites out there - this is a great one: http://www.stylemepretty.com/category/wedding-resources/wedding-color-palettes/

Welcome and congratulations!!  A friend of mine used coral as one of her wedding colors and she paired it with yellow.  I think coral would be really pretty with a light green.

welcome, and congrats on the engagement and the checks you already have done!  as far as what to pair with coral, I personally think coral and gray look pretty sharp.  good luck with the planning, it goes by so quick!  :)

Welcome!  I'm using coral as one of my colors and pairing it with champagne, blush pink, dusty rose, and peach.  Feel free to check out my bio (link in siggy) and look at my color swatches and inspiration pictures.  I also love the perfect palette site someone mention above -- lots of great inspiration boards organized by color, so it's easy to imagine what a wedding would look like with various color combos.  I also used http://www.bridalcanvas.com/ to make my own inspiration board with pictures I found online.  Kind of helps you visualize how it will look when it all comes together.

It's funny, but I never considered myself a "pink" girl until I started planning my wedding.  It just kind of came together that way, but I LOVE it!

I would also suggest taking your reception venue into account when choosing your colors.  Try to visualize what will go well in there.  That's actually how my wedding colors came together, I wanted to pick colors that would compliment the decor that's already there.
