Photographer Recommendations

Hi Ladies,So I have a dilemma... the photographer that I found made an awesome first impression. I literally spent hours a day on her website, listening to her music and looking at the same photos.  I then went over a bunch of her blog posts and when I got to last year's posts, I realized that they were pretty amateurish at that time. Then I looked again at her website and I realized that all of the weddings she shot took place recently and there are only about 4-5 of them.  I started being more critical of her work, and I realized that most of her images are over exposed.  Her post production is good, but then, the pictures on her website must be the best she got... and my lil crush on her disappeared...Now I am searching for a new photographer. I saw some reviews, and I found two photographers that were pretty good, but their prices were around $6K for 8-10 hours, which I think is a little outrageous, considering that their packages do not include much other free stuff.  I have a feeling that a fair deal is two photographers for 10 hours, with some touched up album included, for $4K.  Can you recommend anyone in the Hudson Valley, Rockland area?Thank you!

I would suggest Robert Stone Photography, he's out of Washingtonville, NY.  I'm not using him only because his price was out of my range, his prices are $3k-$4k.  If he had been in my price range I would have chosen him in a second.  I won a free engagement photo at a bridal show for him, that's how I got to know his work.  He's very professional, and knows what he's doing.  He has a website also, I think it is www.robertstonephoto.com. Happy hunting!

Thank you so much everyone! With all this variety in the area, it is hard to figure out what is a standard... so far it looks like - for less than $3K you won't get quality, or talent. Thank you again for all your suggestions! Ela

Not necessarily. We used Nick Carter and his packages are under $3,000. He has a photojournalistic style and takes beautiful pictures. I wouldn't rule him out because he charges less. Check out his website, nickcarterweddings.com. A lot of other knotties have used him and they've all loved him.

Photography is such a personal decision.  My only advice is make sure you love the work and you love the person.  You will spend your entire day with your photog so you must like them.  Secondly, I just got married a few weeks ago.  I used Angelica Glass.  She is expensive however totally worth it.  If you are interested, my wedding is the last wedding she posted on her blog.Good luck in your search!

I agree with pp.. don't rule out a photographer because you think their price means low quality.  I think it's nice that some vendors are aware of the racket that surrounds weddings, and choose to not be apart of it.  I totally understand why you are changing photographers though, I did it too!!I am using Kim Coccagnia - http://www.kimberlycoccagnia.com/. I also looked at Nick Carter - http://www.nickcarterweddings.com/, Jose Reyes - http://www.josereyesphotography.com/, and Bella Pictures - http://www.bellapictures.com/.Hopefully that helps!  Good Luck!
