Awkward Encounter

So the other night FI & I decided to meet at his moms house before going to a concert. (We live an hour outside of the city and she lives right in the city)

 

I get off work 45 min before FI so I knew I would get there before him, which didn’t bother me at all. Upon arriving at his moms house I noticed a strange car in the driveway but didn’t think anything of it. As soon as I opened the door the face of FI’s ex was staring at me from the sofa. Apparently FMIL and FI’s ex were having a nice afternoon “chatting”. FMIL made the awkward comment “Oh you two have met, right?” FI’s ex wouldn’t even look at me. You could cut the tension in the room with a knife.

 

I had no idea FMIL and FI’s ex still talked and got together. FI and his Ex were together for 2 years but I know if FI & I suddenly broke up she would never invite me down after the fact and FI and I have been together for 5 years. It’s kind of upsetting.

    Oh I would have lost it!! That is so rude of her, especially if you were expected to be coming over.

    What did FI say about it? He should talk to his mom. I hate girls who don't seem to let go (that's how the ex GF come's across anyway).

    That sucks, sorry you're dealing with them!

    Oh boy!  I would have been livid.  I, too, would love to know what your FI said about it.   you have every right to be upset.  Did FMIL apologize or say anything?  Furthermore, why in the world would the ex come over?  I mean she knows that her relationship is over with your FI and that he is marrying you right?  Go figure.  Ugh!

    Ugh that must of been really akward. I will say that I still sometimes go over to talk with my ex's mom, but we've been family friends with them for years (way before me and my ex ever got together) so that is probably different. I'm sorry you had to experinence that!
