There was a post recently with suggestions for rehearsal dinner options in Poughkeepsie. I made a list of some of the places and went to 2 of them over the weekend (I don't live in Pok anymore but was visiting). I like the idea of italian for the meal, and we are getting married at the Grandview so we are looking for somewhere close to there.
We went to Amici's first and I have to admit we were not in love with the food. Atmosphere was great and we liked that it was right by the train station. But food was just OK (yes the lobster mac and cheese was good, but everything else meh).
We went to Cosimo's the next night and while we weren't a big fan of the ambience, the food was good, and we liked that they had all the separate rooms.
A person on the other post suggested Milanese - has anyone been there? It doesn't look like much from the outside and sounds like it's kind of small and family-run, but that could be a good thing.
My parents live right near Tina's in LaGrange and we love their food and that it's run by a traditional italian family. I wanted to do the rehearsal dinner there but my Dad suddently decided he wants to have a big fancy rehearsal dinner (he said he would pay so I wasn't going to argue) and Tina's is more informal. My point is that I think we kind of like "the basics" with italian food, not so much a CIA chef trying to do something fancy.
I guess just wondering whether anyone has any other suggestions or if we should just look at booking Cosimo's. I liked Cosimo's but I wasn't blow away or anything. Also wondering if it's worth sending my parents to check out Milanese and/or waiting until we are back in town again to try it out.
