Rehearsal Dinner in Pok

There was a post recently with suggestions for rehearsal dinner options in Poughkeepsie.  I made a list of some of the places and went to 2 of them over the weekend (I don't live in Pok anymore but was visiting).  I like the idea of italian for the meal, and we are getting married at the Grandview so we are looking for somewhere close to there.

We went to Amici's first and I have to admit we were not in love with the food.  Atmosphere was great and we liked that it was right by the train station.  But food was just OK (yes the lobster mac and cheese was good, but everything else meh).

We went to Cosimo's the next night and while we weren't a big fan of the ambience, the food was good, and we liked that they had all the separate rooms.

A person on the other post suggested Milanese - has anyone been there?  It doesn't look like much from the outside and sounds like it's kind of small and family-run, but that could be a good thing.

My parents live right near Tina's in LaGrange and we love their food and that it's run by a traditional italian family.  I wanted to do the rehearsal dinner there but my Dad suddently decided he wants to have a big fancy rehearsal dinner (he said he would pay so I wasn't going to argue) and Tina's is more informal.  My point is that I think we kind of like "the basics" with italian food, not so much a CIA chef trying to do something fancy.

I guess just wondering whether anyone has any other suggestions or if we should just look at booking Cosimo's.  I liked Cosimo's but I wasn't blow away or anything.  Also wondering if it's worth sending my parents to check out Milanese and/or waiting until we are back in town again to try it out.

Check out Aroma on Route 9- just north of Fishkill

If you're willing to venture to Wappingers, and I totally understand if you don't want to, but we had dinner at the Blue Fountain the other day and it was FANTASTIC.

I was going to suggest Coppola's too. I think thats where we're having ours.

I second the Blue Fountain. I've been there many times and it's always very good. However, it is about 20 mins. from the other restaurants you looked into. I actually went to a rehearsal there last summer and it was great.

We had our second date at the Blue Fountain! (and it's now where we go every year for special occasions and our dating anniversary since our first date place closed down)

Love that place! Great food! But yes, like pp said, it's about 20 minutes from the other restaurants you mentioned in Poughkeepsie

Thanks for the suggestions!  We ideally would like to keep the rehearsal dinner as close to the Pok Grand (where our guests will be staying) as possible.  We'll have a lot of out of town guests at the RD and we don't want to have them driving all over the place, especially on Rt 9 which can be kind of confusing and intimidating if you don't know your way around.

Oh and the Milanese is great! They have good food, my friend does her birthday there very year. Plus, better for you it is only right down the hill on Main St from PK Grand!

OK we will definitely try out the Milanese and maybe some of the other places.  Even though the wedding is 8 months away I am getting nervous already because I feel like everything in this area books up so quickly.  I don't want to decide on a RD place and then find out someone else already booked them for that night.
