Ivory vs White

What color dress are you going for?

At first I was set on a white gown bc I thought that was what you were supposed to do. But my MOH and FH told me that ivory would be a better choice for me.

I went dress shopping for the first time and all the gowns I tried on were ivory they didn't seem to have any white... or maybe I couldn't tell the difference.

My questions is what color and why did you choose it?

I think very few people actually wear pure white because slightly darker shades tend to look better against your skin. My dress was diamond white. Most people, no matter what color your dress actually is, will see it as white.

My dress color is pearl which is kinda like diamond white. I think you should go based on what looks against your skin...they are all white just different shades.

My dress is pearl white. Complemented my skin tone better than pure white.

I chose ivory because it complemented my skin tone better. You couldn't tell my dress was ivory unless you help it up against a stark white dress.  That bright white can be harsh on some ppl.

Have fun dress shopping! Try on all colors to see which looks best on your skin tone. I knew I was getting a white dress, regardless. But, since a lot of the dresses that I liked were only in the store in ivory, I tried them on to see the style/ shape of the dress on me. So I got to see white, and ivory and diamond white dresses. (It was fun trying dresses on!) Anyway, found out I'm pale and actually the ivory dresses looked worse on me because it was so close to the color of my skin. The white actually looked better.

Good luck and have fun! And don't be afraid to try on anything!

Also, different manufacturers and materials look different. So one company's shade of something may look good, but another company's shade - even if it's called the same name - may not look so good.

    Have fun!
