NWR: Hair Salon Question

I get highlights. I think it's insane the amount of money most salons want for these here in Westchester($175+) I am always paying more than that since I have a TON of hair. So I thought why not try the Lemon Tree here in Mamaroneck. Has anyone had experience with them to do color or highlights or would you trust them?? They start at only $60+ for them. Soo much less than every salon. I also need a cut so that factors in as well since I am usually charged $75 in a regular salon. Here it would be only $21 or so. My appt is today but what if they destroy my hair? Any thoughts would be helpful. THANKS. Laughing

I don't know Lemon Tree personally but I was walking in the Poughkeepsie Galleria one day and noticed that one of the stylist wore her hair the same way I do.  I walked in, asked her to give me a hair cut and I've been with her for 2 years now.  I pay $16 for a haircut and $75 for highlights & a cut.  I'd follow Kat anywhere!  My suggestion is to look at their hair, if you find someone that has style themselves they will most likely understand your style.  Good Luck!!!!!

I'm always terrified to try new stylists! I travel an hour back up to OC to have my hair done because I would pay what you pay for my cut/highlights down here in NJ and it is ridiculous! My hair dresser does my hair at her house, for $80 total! I love her! She works at a salon too but I would have to pay more if I went there to get it done.

I think it definitely depends on the stylists, it could be hit or miss there. GL!

Thanks girls. I cancelled the appt. Being that our wedding is coming up in March, I'd rather have my hair done right than wrong. I will figure out which place here in Westchester I hope. I use to go to one in the Bronx where it cost less but its such a hassle to go to.

I live in Mamaroneck, and I have NEVER gone into Lemon tree.  What I have done is gone into NYC to Vidal Sassoon School and had low lights done there.  IT is SO reasonably priced b/c, when it comes down to it, they're students.  I'd recommend looking into it.

I have never been to one either...but like pp, i would follow my stylist anywhere"!  Color is very important to me and my girl knows exactly how to make me look great (includimg on my wedding day).  For cut/color/highlights I pay less than $100.

I HIGHLY recommend "Hair Cutters" in White Plains - Joe is absolutely wonderful to work with.  He listens to what you want and offers up his opinions, but NEVER EVER does anything you haven't already approved.
