New York-Hudson Valley

Engagement Photo locations

I am looking for a place for our e photos.  We are going to get them taken in the spring as everything is beginning to grow.  I didn't grow up in the Hudson Valley so I don't know much.  I am in southern Rockland County, my photographer is outside of Poughkeepsie.  Any ideas between our locations?  Thanks!!

What kind of look are you going for? Do you want to be near trees and lakes, have Hudson River/Bridge views or take pics in a cute town with all sorts of shops etc?

The Hudson Valley is a pretty big place with a lot of different geographical characteristics, so if you can narrow it down, I can make some suggestions.

I am not really sure.  I guess ideas for both.  I love the cute town idea, stopping at a coffee shop and little benches.  I also love the outdoors.  Ahhhh I can't decide!  I def CANNOT have the mid-hudson bridge due to some family issues.

If you want to be outdoors in nature, I'd suggest Bear Mt. State Park, Tallman Mt. State Park or something along those lines.

You could always to shots in Nyack and get some of the cute store fronts and streets and at the same time have access to views of the Hudson river and Tappan Zee bridge. This same idea would work in Piermont which has beautiful views of the bridge and river as well as a bunch of very cute stores/boutiques, and I believe you can walk out onto the pier as well.

We took our engagement pics at High Point State Park in Jersey, just over the NY border. It's not quite in the middle of you and your photog, but just thought I'd put it out there. We got great shots up by the monument, over looking the beautiful vista, on the playground, and in the water.

Piermont and Nyack are cool places if you want to be in a downtown area. You could also take the nature route and go to Tallman State Park, Bear Mountain, etc. Paramus has a petting zoo. Cold Springs is also a cute town on the other side of the bridge.

ETA. Someone also took pictures at a local library, I'd imagine the one in Tappan would be cute and then you could walk around town afterwards or go to the little park or one of the old churches or houses if you want some pictures around trees and whatnot afterwards.
