Photographers under $1000.00?

I am helping my sister out, who is getting married Aug 27 in Rockland county.  She is looking for an affordable but good photographer.  Can you please give some names of photographers that have prices under 1k?  Thanks!

That's a tall order.  You may be able to work with a photographer to cut down a package  -  like maybe the ceremony and portraits but not the reception.  I've heard of people douing that.

You'll probably have to try Craigs List.  Some of them are probably still pretty good photographers but you'll need to do some background checking to make sure you're working with someone reliable.

When I was looking at a venue in Hopewell they had a photographer Paul Jayson Photography.  He has a package called the Renaissance:

    Full Day Coverage
A DVD slideshow with all images
    75 thank you cards
    Online Web Show
    4 5X7
    2 8X10

I would also recommend looking for a photographer that does not include albums but will give you the photos on a DVD.  You can always make an album on Shutterfly or Kodak etc...I  just saw the wedding albums on Shutterfly about a month ago go half price.  I am sue they do that a lot.  Just wait it out.  Good Luck.

you may want to consider skipping actual photographs and getting a cd/dvd of all the pictures you can print yourself - i found that to be the cheaper way to go. Actual photos vs proof pics so we can upload to various photo sites/photography shop, etc. We're also doing photoshare cards from vista print for guests to share any additional photos they may have.

I'm using John De Santo of Studio Blu out of Warwick, he's the photo editor of the Middletown Record - was great to talk with, has AP awards for photography of people and was in our range. Below is the link - he has pacakges around 1k and maybe able to adjust to your needs.

Edit: you may also want to check out the County College to see if they have photography instructors and also post to the NJ board since they may know of some who may cross the border. GL

I booked http://www.twoweddingphotographers.com and while we went with a more expensive package - they DO have a $950 package. Check out their website - they were recommended in the vendor area of the knot and they have a beautiful portfolio.

You can also go to the Vendor section on The Knot - select your area (Hudson Valley) and then Photographer. On the left you can narrow it down by price - there is a <$1,000 option. There are a handful of photographers to check out.
