Labor Day Save the Dates

I will be getting married on August 31st, 2013 (Labor Day weekend). I know that the typical timeline for sending out save the dates is 6 months. Should I send them out earlier due to the holiday? Would a year ahead be too early? I would hate to people make plans and then find out when my wedding is.

My date is the same I am going to send ours prob 8 months in advance. But for the most part a lot of ppl who are invited ask when our wedding is and we let them know in advance. Especially the oot people we are inviting.. Hope this helps
