Wedding Review 11.11.11

We had the most amazing wedding this past weekend!! Our vendors were the best!

The Poughkeepsie Grand: A+
The Grand as in the past did an outstanding job with our wedding. The head waiter and Matre D were amazing!!  They made sure our every need was met. Our Wedding coordinator Tara was awesome too; she helped us with all the details. We were able to get Sam Adams on Tap for the wedding and was a popular drink.

The Pastry Garden:  A
The cake was very tasty and looked beautiful.

David's Bridal - Albany, NY:  A-
Had a great selection of plus-sized gowns to try in in store.  Amber, the sales consultant helping us, was a pleasure to work with.  Just be careful of the other managers walking the floor trying to upsell you or dump discontinued styles on you even if they look horrid on you.

Your Gown Again by Toshi - Albany, NY: A+
I used her as my seamstress for alterations on my gown instead of David's Bridal.  She is extrememly knowlegable and enjoys her trade.  My MOH went with me to all 3 fittings, and Toshi was very attentive in making sure she was comfortable in how to bustle the dress, as well as how to position my undergarments in order for them to complement the dress and my figure.  I would highly reccommend her for any dress alteration, bridal or otherwise.  She is by appt only, but is flexible with schedules.

Men's Warehouse - Multiple Locations:  A
We had groomsmen from all over the US (Texas, California, Washington DC and Albany). The store we all got our tuxedos in Poughkeepsie was very nice and friendly. Our tuxedos fit and nobody had problems at all. We recommend them to anybody.

ASO Limo - Wappingers Falls, NY:  B -
During the wedding they were very prompt and friendly. Before the wedding however was a different story. (Partly their own fault and partly the weathers fault). The Monday before the wedding, I tried to get in contact with the limo company to confirm our schedule, except that the phone number was disconnected. I called the limo driver i had asked to be reservered for us. He told me he left the company a few months back.  The limo company was supposed to call the people who had reserved him to tell us about him leaving.  -- That never happened. I had to make several roundabout phone calls to get the owners of the limo company to get in touch with me.  They said it was due to the snow storm and how it knocked out a few lines. I was told that the limo company usually calls the day before the event to confirm. I believe that is too late to confirm the reservation.  It was a VERY stressful day that could have been avoidd with better communication the their part.  As a side note, our church had informed us that having open conainters of alcohol was prohibitted on their property due to liability concerns.  I informed the limo company of this when I spoke with them the week of the wedding so that they would fore-go the traditional champagne toast that they give us before we get in the limo after the ceremony.  However, he still had every thing set up for the toast to happen out side the limo, and seemed to be surprised when we reminded him that it was not permitted by our church.  And our driver was the SAME person that I had spoke to in the first place about not being able to have the toast outside the limo...

Bedinotti Photo - Newburgh, NY:     B
Lou and Lea are a fantastic couple and great photographers! They made us and our attendants feel at ease when photographing us to help us have a more natural smile rather than a "posed" one.  However, they seemed to take over some elements of the wedding with their own agenda.  Due to the clocks turning back the week of our wedding, we had limited daylight for pictures following the ceremony.  We knew this, and were okay with it.  When the ceremony started, the photographer rushed the procession doen the aisle before their cue music we had selected even started.  Thank goodness he allowed me to wait until MY music started before my Dad escorted me to my waiting husband to be!

The Knot Shop:    A

Taylor Entertainment - Newburgh, NY: A+
Michelle was fantastic!!!  She also had an assistant with her so there was nevery a lull in music.  Our guests never left the dance floor!  She had a great mix of songs to please everyone's taste at some point durning the night, and the music want not too loud.  She had great personality when making announcements and introducing the bridal party, but was not too intrusive as to distract from the event.  She used to be an MC on Q92.1 FM and is a friend of mine. I highly recommend her.
