What needs to be done the last few days?

Question for the married ladies, or anyone who has more experience with this than me.  I'm applying for an opportunity (which I probably won't get anyway because it's super competitive, but you never know) which would mean I might not have much time off right before my wedding. 

This is going to sound completely naive, but what is the last minute stuff that you have to do the few days leading up to your wedding?  I really have no idea.  I'm not doing DIY stuff so I am relying on my venue and the florist for all the decorating and that sort of stuff. 

So what needs to be done at the last minute and is it possible to do any of it beforehand?

Honestly, I had nothing to do the last 2 weeks before the wedding.

Finalizing seating and seating cards if you haven't already done so, reconfirming with venues if needed, getting cash for gratuities (and writing any final checks), dropping off (and completing) goody bags for out of town guests at hotels, answering annoying phone calls and emails from famiily members who for some reason can not recall how to be adults and look driections up on google, etc., getting your nails done (and I highly recommend getting a massage!).

There were a number of other small things I did the week before, we did all of escort cards, flower girl baskets, programs ourselves.

Very few things. I had to pick up my dress, drop everything off at the reception venue (we had previously packed and labeled everything so it was all ready to go), dropped the oot boxes off at the hotel when I checked in the night before, finalized everything once more with vendors (mostly via email, not a big deal), and we dealt with a few last minute guest list changes. Nothing major at all.

yea not a whole lot. i didn't have much time either right before and i was kinda stressed about it, but it turned out to be fine. got my dress four days before, dropped off the stuff to the venue the same day. called and reconfirmed with the limo. got my nails done the day before. that's about it.

Some of these are repeats, but these things were on my to-do list!
-Decide/divide cash into envelopes to tip vendors
-Pay off any remaining balances on vendors
-Wrap bridesmaid/groomsman gifts
-Confirm times/details with vendors
-Deliver OOT gift bags to hotel
-Pick up dress
-Pack for honeymoon (The most stressful for me on top of everything else!)
-Drop off menus, placecards, guest book, table #'s, favors, etc at venue
-Get nails done, hair cut, and any waxing done.

Thanks ladies that's good to know.  I always had the impression that the last few days are the craziest but it sounds like that doesn't have to be the case.

well since I am in my last few days right now I have been busy with:

Finalizing seating chart
confirming times/info with all vendors
dropping everything off at the venue
put together centerpieces
finish table numbers
wrap all BP gifts, readers gifts, parents gifts
finish buying all gifts
write thank you cards
write and print welcome letters for OOT guests at hotel
pick up MOB dress with mom
pick up my wedding gown
nail appointment
waxing appointment
get baskets ready for the church (bubbles, programs)
confirm everything with the RD restaurant
worry about the weather and check online all the time the forecast lol
answer a million questions from everyone on things they already know - what time is the ceremony? is there a shuttle? when do I have to be at your house? how much is make up again? it goes on and on

Don't under estimate what a PITA packing for your honeymoon will be.  It took me a full day to do all the laundry, run out and get last minute things, and pack it all. 

Pick up your dress, do your nails, arrange the money for venders/tips (this is a great one to delegate to your DH), pick up his tux, handle annoying phone calls from family/friends who suddenly don't know how to use their computer to aquire information like directions, making last minute place cards (although you can avoid this by making your RSVP date earlier), and just generally getting yourself organized.

I think much of what needs to be done is in your control. If you leave things to be done the week before, then you will be busy. Of course, there are some things you can't do ahead of time, but in my case, I did everything I could do ahead of time, and the week before my wedding was a relaxing and fun time for me

Like the other girls have said - a lot of it is up to you. I think they mentioned almost everything that can be done in the last couple of weeks, so take a look to see what you can get done early.

I'm not the most organized person, so I had a lot to do in the last two weeks, up until the day before!

But a lot can be done earlier if you are organized.

Couple of things that can help:

Talk to your venue - see if you can drop stuff off before the set Tuesday or Wednes before your wedding. They may allow it. My guy actually held my chargers for six months before - so it saved alot of space in my car / home! But we were allowed to bring stuff through out the week of the wedding. And that was all the last minute stuff. Our final (official meeting) was two weeks beforehand, and I brought alot then. So talk to your venue.

If you are doing favors, get them done early!

Any paper stuff (I know you said you arern't doing a lot of DIY, but you never know) try to get that stuff done as soon as you can.

Try to confirm with your vendors early (maybe the week before) so that the week of can be quicl phone calls - ie. "yup, its all the same". Or mention the one thing that possibly changed. Rather than going over everything.

Seating cards - ultimate timesaver - have ones where the persons seat is inside a folded card. And make the inside tabbed on. (glue dots are great for this). That way most of the card is done and printed, and you can rearrange the tables at the last minute is seating options change. Also, what I did (that save soooooo much time) When my invites were mailed, EVERYONE that was invited was assigned to a table. So as the yeses came in they got hi-lighted. and the no's got crossed off. That way, towards the end you are not trying to figure out who to site so and so with. You will have groups already done, and it can be a working model instead of a project when the responses come in.

Most things will be done in advanced if you're well organized.  I just had beauty stuff that had to get done and dropping off OOT bags.  (I also avoided dairy like the plague for several weeks before the wedding, which really doesn't have to do with your question, but it helped my beauty routine so much). 

You'll be fine.  Just plan ahead and enjoy!
