Deposits?

So wedding planning has been at a standstill since the semester started (which is ok and totally expected). But, I want to be prepared to book once I get a chance either on Spring Break or in May to research and meet with vendors. I've been checking out what I can online, but I really won't have the opportunity to run around to meet with folks until the break between semesters.

I want to make sure I have enough $$ ready for deposit time. I know each vendor is different, but what would you suggest to have set aside for the DJ, Photographer, and Videographer?

I can tell you what I had to put down for mine, but each vendor will be different,

Photographer- i put down half of the total, so $1,700
DJ- $100
Videographer-$100

we put down $500 on photog/videog and $500 on the DJ.

we put down $500 for the DJ and $1400 for the photographer. we aren't doing video.

i think they are all different...if i remember, the dj and video were $100, photo was $500.

You could always budget on the high side...or do $500/vendor and then adjust once you book them.

They are definitely all different. Our dj wanted a third when we booked, so it was like 650 or so. We then had one payment in the middle of when we booked and our wedding, and the other payment was due right before the wedding.

We had to pay almost $1k to reserve the photographer, with a few other payments between then and the wedding, and the final payment due when we picked up our proofs.
