November 10th Wedding Reviews

I found everyone's vendor recommendations so helpful. so I wanted to be sure to post mine.  We did a lot of research before even meeting with any vendor and we made sure to go with people that we could depend on and would not have to worry about micro managing.  Our wedding was amazing!  I would not have changed a thing and this is due in large part to the professionalism of each of our vendors.

Venue - Brotherhood Winery
http://www.brotherhood-winery.com/wineryGrandSalon.html

It is stunning.  So beautiful and different.  They provide the room, tables/chairs and the wine. Everything else (catering, linens, dishes/glassware etc.) needs to be brought in.  Donny was helpful through out the planning process.  We did not want a cookie cutter reception at a standard hall, this was perfect!

Catering - Holbert's Catering

http://www.holbertscatering.com/

Susan Holbert and her entire team are outstanding.  The food was delicious and working with the entire team was great  (from e-mailing back and forth with Melissa to the entire bar, wait staff  and banquet manager the day of the wedding).  They were extremely friendly, yet professional.  Their attention to detail is astonishing - they remembered things that were mentioned months earlier in passing.

From our initial meeting with Susan we knew that we would not need to micro manage and keep following up - they have their business down and we could trust them to pull off an amazing wedding.  Susan had so many great suggestions of how to pull off an elegant, but not stuffy wedding.  Holbert's catering went above and beyond simply providing the food and drink.

We chose to do a buffet style dinner - we wanted things a little less formal and people to be up having fun rather than waiting for the courses to be served.  We were a little nervous that a buffet would not be as classy – but we were very happy of how it went.
All the food was amazing.  Everything was fresh and not your typical wedding choices - but not so different that people will not try and enjoy it.  So many guests commented to us how wonderful the food was.

If you are looking for a caterer, I highly recommend Holbert's.

Photographer - Aida Krgin

Aida is another vendor that we knew once we met her that we could trust her with our wedding.  Her photography style is exactly what we were looking for....I do not know photography lingo, but we like sharp and bright rather than muted and smoky looking to try to make it look romantic.

She provides an engagement session - which I was hesitant about but are so glad we did it.  Besides now having these amazing photos of us, it also gave us a chance to spend time with Aida and for us to become comfortable with her and what she was asking us to do.  It certainly made our wedding day formal pictures go much more smoothly I think.

She is an amazing photographer and just a genuinely nice person.  I highly recommend Aida!

DJ – Music Speaks Volumes (MSV)                                                           http://www.musicspeaksvolumes.com/

Our team was Gabriel and Bill – they were fantastic!  Our dance floor was packed all night!

We booked through John the owner of MSV.  I must say, I was a bit nervous at the process.  He has three crews, so he books the events and then assigns which MC/DJ team will be at each event about 2 weeks before.  I was just a little nervous that we wouldn’t be able to speak to the actual people at our wedding until the week or so before, but we figured John runs a successful business so any team assigned would be great.

We took John’s initial advice and did not come up with huge play/ do not play lists.  He said that they would scope of the crowd, play a few songs to see what got responses and go from there.  It could not have been better!  Gabriel and Bill definitely know what they are doing!  The got everyone up and dancing.  By the end I was truly exhausted from dancing all night!

Flowers – Monroe Florist                                                          http://www.monroefloristandgreenhouses.com/

Margaret was great to work with!  We sat and went through the general look I was going for.  She had great suggestions , what was really helpful were the suggestions of how to save some money!

The flowers were gorgeous!  Even my now husband was surprised at how beautiful it all was!

Makeup – Simply Flawless Faces                                                                 http://www.simplyflawlessfaces.com/

Denise made me, my bridal party and the moms look beautiful!  Everything was natural looking yet very elegant.

Limo – A Hudson Valley Limo                                                                          http://www.ahudsonvalleylimo.com/

Very smooth booking.  Limos were clean.  Drivers were great – they were early, knew exactly where they were going.  I looked at a lot of limo companies.  I did not want to spend a ton of money to get us to the church and from the church to the reception.  They were very reasonable.

Guest Transporation – Leprechaun Lines http://www.leprechaunlines.com/charters/charter_information.asp

Another smooth booking of the 26 passenger mini coach.  Was very happy we were able to provide this to our guests so they could enjoy the open bar!

All these vendors were fantastic and I would use every one of them again!

  • So glad you liked Aida - we used her too and she is a great friend now!

  • Aida, hope you don't mind me asking and you do not have to share if you don't want. I am thinking of having my wedding at Brotherhood but a little weary of the additional costs (catering, bar, linens, etc). Would you mind sharing how much it cost for your catering services? I really love the winery and have fallen in love with their Grand Monarque Hall. Any feedback would really help me out colbermann@gmail.com
