Slideshow

If anyone did a slideshow before the ceremony started, how many pictures did you put in it of your bride and then your groom?

Re: Slideshow

  • I think slideshows are pretty AWish.  I'd skip this.
  • If it can be done without making the guests feel like a captive audience, then I might be okay with it.  But I think that before the ceremony, while the guests are waiting for it to start, could make them feel like a captive audience, so I'd skip it.
  • maybe do it for the rehearsal dinner?

June 1, 2013 - finally making it official!

  • I'm having one playing on a small tv at our reception (the venue had one mounted so leaving it off just felt weird to me).  Anyway...since it's a passively playing thing, I'm going to have a loop of about 100 pictures playing...combination of us growing up and us together.
  • I would skip it too. At least don't do it at the ceremony. Have it running during the reception or rehearsal dinner, but don't stop everything and force people to sit through it...
  • I went to a wedding of my fiancé's family member who had a slideshow before the ceremony, and I actually really enjoyed watching the video. I don't get the captive audience comments because everyone is there to be there for you, and I think it's a sweet idea to show everyone your love story. It's your day. Do what makes you happy. I was planning on having one before the ceremony because we both enjoyed. If your guests are people who really love and care about you, they will most likely be family and friends who enjoy looking at cute and funny past pics of you both. Obviously the commenters above disagree, but I disagree with them. So do what you want.
  • We are having a digital picture frame with about 100 pictures on it, set up on the guest book table.  It's got pictures of our trips, family, engagement, etc.  That way when guests enter the venue, sign the guest book, they can watch it if they want, or walk away easily enough.

This is what we are doing too. I personally like seeing things like this at a wedding and do not see it to be AWish; however, I also don't like when they are ridiculously long so having something in a general location works out well in my opinion; that way those who like these sort of things can watch, and people who don't do not need to pay attention to it.
