Question: re: std's and invitations

Hi all - I
'm still deciding who I'm going to use in terms of my std's and my invites.? Online vs: someone I can meet w/ in person..... I know a lot of you have recco'd several online sites. I'm suppose to have my engagement pics done in Sept / Oct....I should be sending out my std's in the begging of Nov. I have to ask the photgrapher how long it will take for our photographs? I would probably like to use one of the pics he takes....however my question is how long did it take for you your std's order to come in?

Thanks so much ...
-Lee

It only took about a week or so for mine to come in but I ordered them from store (Forever Favors in Middletown).  I preferred meeting with someone in person and reviewing our options etc.  Plus it was easier to see the colors etc which sometimes don't look right on the computer.
We didn't have a picture included in ours though, we just did a simple card with the wedding info and then included the hotel info,

I received my STDs from Vistaprint within a couple of weeks- it was quick.  You can upload photos to that site if you choose.  We did it w/o a picture so I don't know if that will add to the processing time.

I ordered my invitations online from Linda Zec at invitations4sale.com.  She is good with communicating and sends free samples. Her prices were amazing and one of my bridesmaids was able to vouch for her product. I hear what you're saying about ordering from someone you can meet with, and I was nervous, too.  But, everything turned out great.

Good luck with whatever you choose!

we did our STD through Vista print. It was really easy and fast. We also didnt have a picture, but my MOH created a monogram for me and we uploaded it on their site.

Our invites we ordered through a friend who works for a printing company, so i'm not help there.

I did an std through vistaprint as well...ours was a magnet and was a picture of a fall scene but not us.  It took about 2 weeks for them to come.

I ordered my invites from 1st class wedding invitations.com and it took about a week or week and a half for them to come in once i approved the final draft.

I haven't looked into invitations yet, but I did order my STDs from VistaPrint as well.  I designed magnets using a picture that I uploaded to one of their pre-made templates & it came out great.  They allow you to order a PDF proof to make sure it will come out exactly as you want.  VistaPrint is super easy to use, but if you do decide to use them, make sure you sign up for their emails because a few times a week they send email promotions for free or highly discounted prices.  I ordered 200 magnets & ended up paying less than $40 for my STD magnets including shipping.  I received them in the mail within a week of ordering them & I didn't pay extra for fast shipping- i just did the standard shipping.  They came out great & received numerous compliments on them... Good luck!!!

We used Elegant Gift Gallery in Throggs Neck.  They were great to work with and we loved how our save the dates and invitations came out.

I am not a vendor.  I am an old knottie that does it.  It isn't like I really charge.  Just the cost of the materials.  And she would have to meet me.

Out of curiosity ladies...for the ones that chose not to use a pic for their std's....

Any paticular reason why you didn't? Did you feel weird about your magnet having your pics on all your guests refrigerators? I'm on the fence about it. I may opt and just do a magnet w/ no pic. For ME .....I think it'll be less stressful and I won't be so picky about what pic to use. But I'm still considering.

    Thanks for your input.

Our main reason for not doing a pic magnet was b/c we had an 8 month engagement and only 7 months from the time we booked our venue until the wedding.  I would have been very picky about which picture to choose and there wouldn't have been time for pro pics.  I'm really happy that we didn't; it was definitely less stressful. But, if I had a great pic of us already, I probably would have used it.

I think you're right -- it is less stressful trying to pick out a pic. I like the monogram idea......I might just go with that :-)   thanks for responding.

We used Magnet Street for our Save the dates. got them in less than two weeks. Used one of their templates. It was a silloutte picture of a bride and groom. I wanted a picture, but didn't want us on it. This worked out perfectly!

We used The American Wedding for invites. That order took about two weeks to come in. I requested samples first because I wanted to feel the quality. Price was extremely reasonable.
