Jaimie, I just wanted you to know I've been thinking of you. As you may recall I had a negative experience with my venue. The differences were 1) My banquet manager was not the original person we signed with (we had a great rapport with the 1st one). Someone else took over and never bothered to call us ... we found out on The Knot! He was very shady from the beginning.  2) The other staff at the venue went above and beyond to please us that day. The catering manager was ordering them around to basically do the opposite of what we requested.
At the time, I was embarrassed to even post my reviews because everyone had such positive experiences on the HV board. I didn't put much detail because I heard that negative venue posts just get deleted. I even second guessed hiring a DOC because this guy kept guaranteeing that he would take care of everything. My husband was more upset than  I was because he saw all the hard work and detail I put into planning our day. As soon as we got back from our honeymoon (which was right after the wedding) we went to the venue and the owner's daughter sat down with us and basically refunded us 5% of the total. She probably would have offerred more if we pursued it.   We didn't come there expecting to negotiate, but just wanted an explanation of what happened and an apology. We wanted her to know how we felt as consumers , so that it wouldn't happen to anyone else.
I was very proud of you for posting your detailed reviews and am shocked that they are not willing to compensate ...at  least for the loss of your items...such bad business. The "psycho" comment was uncalled for, especially since you are not the 1st bride to be disappointed by thier services.
Don't these places realize what a large network we are?  I am planning my daughter's sweet 16 and a big birthday party for hubby this summer ....poor customer service spreads quickly. I wish you the best of luck  with this situation. On a brighter note, I'm glad your guests had a great time and you have a supportive network...your mom, friends, and us.

Juliet- First thank you for writing book for me, you're so thoughtful and I appreciate it soooo much. I'll be honest, it really sucks having problems with the venue. You have such high expectations and then they get crushed. All of the details that I worked on also crushed (literally) or lost and it hurts. There's no reason to be ashamed of having a bad experience, if anything it helps other brides. I'm sorry to anyone that I recommended this venue to; I just hope the experiences for them are better then mine. I really don't think I will be compensated. I can't get an apology for anything other than a waiter hitting on someone underage which I appreciate but where's my apology or acknowledgement for someone stealing my photographer's laptop, losing my aisle runner, breaking my cake topper, and missing a bunch more things? This is what I'm angry about, they just don't care. My mom explained everything that we felt was wrong and the owner simply just didn't care. How can you be an owner of a business and not care and not want to hear feedback, ya know? You're right we are a huge network and they don't realize the amount of power we have.

Thank you for thinking of me =)
