This beautiful silk satin, strapless, trumpet gown has gorgeous beaded detailing which compliments any woman's waist by drawing the eye inward. Covered buttons extend all the way down the back of the dress (including the train). Buttons are "non-working" and a hidden zipper enclosure with hook and eyes is under the buttons. It has been cleaned professionally and is stored properly. On the underside of the back edge of the train there is a very slight discoloration from dancing at the reception that didn't come out during cleaning. You can't see it unless you literally flip the train hem up and over. It would also be very easy to hem under the discolored edge just a little bit if you are concerned about it.
A 4 point French bustle was created for this dress. In addition, velcro strips were sewn inside the top of the dress so that they would attach to my bustier. This was a common procedure done at my Bridal Salon to further ensure I wasn't pulling the dress up all day since it was strapless. I was dubious at first, but let me tell you- it kept the bodice close to my body (no gapping between the "girls" and the dress) and I never had to pull on the dress once! Of course this was definitely do to the wonderful fitting job my seamstress did, but it did feel more secure attached to my long line bra. You cannot see the velcro while the dress is on.
Dress was worn once on my wedding day in July of 2007. It was the dress of my dreams and I have had such a strangely close bond with the dress and never wanted to get rid of it. I had hopes of my daughter wearing it, or at the very least wanting some scraps from it. But some things in my life have changed and it's time to get the dress out of my tiny closet!
49040 is no longer made. Shortly after ordering my gown, Henry Roth stopped producing his own line and went to work for Kleinfelds designing for them. I also have a sketch of his design of 49040 signed by Henry Roth if you would like that to be included as well!
