le chateu

Has anyone had their own or been to a reception at Le Chateu in South Salem?  Any thoughts/comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much :)

I thought it looked like a beautiful spot but unfortunantly it was way over our budget.  They quoted $165pp when I called.

It's really pretty and the food is good.

But, depending on where you are getting married (if not onsite) it might be a ways away. And there aren't any hotels nearby. Mount Kisco is over 20 minutes. And not much is open over there late at night. Except the deli in Cross River. I think that's the only thing.

But, if all your guests are local, or know where it is, or if you are planning a daytime wedding, the place is really beautiful.

I was just at a wedding there two weeks ago.  It was beautiful.  The food was amazing and the owner is really sweet.  If you can afford it I would go for it!

    Hi,
I know another couple who got married at le chateau and we actually considered having our wedding there as well.  It is beautiful and although I haven't eaten there, I've heard only rave reviews about the food.

Are you having your ceremony there as well?  If so, the terrace/garden at sunset is a gorgeous ceremony site.

The one thing we didn't like is the set up of the dining room.  While the capacity is ~165-175, it actually seems much smaller.  We were going to be at the high end of this and therefore would have had to use a separate alcove to seat all of our guests, which we just didn't want to do.  However, if that doesn't bother you (maybe it could be the kids' table or something), or if you have fewer than 160 or so guests you probably wouldn't even have to use it.  Good luck I'm sure it will be beautiful!

thanks all - I'm going there again tomorrow and if all goes well, we'll be booking!!

we had dinner there on Friday night, and it was my fiance's first time seeing it and jules1038 - he had the same reaction about the dining area looking much smaller than the capacity they reference.  we're only shooting for about 130 so i think we'll be okay.

Just FYI - Catering halls always tell you the max number they can fit in their rooms. But in my opinion, the rooms look "best" at 75-80% of that number.

The number they tell you is how many they can squeeze in - with tables, chairs and a dance floor. But if you were to actually put that many people in the room, your guests will feel crowded. The 75% figure I gave you will fill the room, but your guests will have plenty of space! And if you have less than that - they will have even more space.

With 130 expected guests, you will fit beautifully in their 165-capacity room.

(I worked for two years at catering hall, and they had a 160 capacity room. The way it was laid out, I wouldn't have wanted to put more than 120 people in that room.)

    PS - Enjoy your dinner!
