Wedding Chapels

Hi All,

I'm new to the board and just recently engaged! In fact, we were engaged on 09-09-11 at the Vanderbilt Mansion in Hyde Park. We have started our wedding planning (guest list done...not fun at all!) and there is one thing I'm stressing about.  I grew up non-denominational Christian and my fiance grew up Roman Catholic. We are both not overly religious..more spirtual if anything.  Does anyone know of a church, or chapel that will marry us? I'm a total control freak and I know that getting married outside would cause me WAY too much stress. Even with a backup location...I would stress. 

Does anyone have any recommendations?

I'm also super excited because we are checking out Locust Grove and The Poughkeepsie Grand this week for our venue

You could have the ceremony at your venue. Or, if you attending college locally, alumni often use their college chapel.

I only know two in Coldspring NY. Its our lady of Restoration, and St. Mary's Church.

They are both really nice! St. Mary's looks like a "church" but it is non-denominational, so it doesn't matter what your religion is. (With both places, that is the case.) Check them out!

I attended a wedding at Our Lady of Restoration and it's real charming.  Also, if it's not to far west (out in Warwick), check out Mulder Chapel; it's a beautiful location with some great views.

If you go with the Grand then you could do the church that I'm having my ceremony at... the blessed kateri in lagrangeville. Also look into our lady of the rosary chapel not far from the grand... gorgeous little place (my first choice but they already had a wedding booked there for my date), Good luck and CONGRATS!!!!
