Big Apple?

Hi ladies,

Anyone have any thoughts on Big Apple Entertainment? Any recommendations on  their mc's? Thanks!!

Yes. BOOK, BOOK, BOOK! They are phenomenal! I booked them for my Nov 6, 2009 wedding and I still can't say enough great things about them. By far my easiest and most fun vendor to work wtih, very affordable and will work with you on price and kept my dance floor packed all night despite a very very diverse crowd (an Italian/Jewish, Pakistani/Muslim wedding). You will not be sorry. Our MC was Paul but I've also heard great things about Eric.

i also booked them for my wedding, which isn't until may 22, so while i cannot give you feedback about their day of services, i can tell you that they've been nothing but easy and great to work with this far.  paul will be our MC bc eric was already booked. their prices were great and i don't feel like they oversell themselves like other (no names mentioned) companies.

    good luck!! =)

I met them at a bridal show and there must have been 5 or 6 of them standing around, and none of them were interested in talking to us or giving us any more info other than the flyer. I had read good reviews here of them and was considering booking, but I was completely turned off by the lack of information I was getting from them.
Then, after the bridal show they called non-stop.

We booked with Jimmy Dee. I know a lot of people have the opposite experience than I did, but we found Jimmy Dee to be nothing but helpful, and they did a great job.

I know, I've heard that from other people. And then I've heard similar experiences to mine with Big Apple. Apparently, you get different vastly different experiences on different days?

Very very true. I also had a bad experience at a bridal show with Jimmy Dee but have seen them in action at a friend's wedding and they were fabulous.

I think you really can't go wrong whether you select Jimmy Dee or Big Apple - both are great in action.

I had an awful experience meeting with Jimmy Dee! So funny because I expected such great things after reviews from The Knot. But I know that not 100% will have good experiences with anyone.

This is probably the best advice. Meet with both, and book whoever is actually friendly on that particular day.

I love both Big Apple and Jimmy Dee.  When I was deciding which to book, I ended up with Jimmy Dee because when I called Big Apple with questions, they answered them and that was it.  They weren't interested in knowing my date for availability purposes, or my name, or phone number or anything.  It just rubbed me the wrong way.

However, as pp's have said- you can't go wrong with either of them.  I think they are equal in talent!

Totally agree with all of that...you have to have a connection with your vendors and that is why we all use some difft vendors :)  If there is no connection, no sense in using them.

To be fair to big apple, they had a HUGE fire in their office (started by a fire in the office next door) and have been dealing w/ it every since. They are working out of a displaced office with limited hours and tons of stress.

I will say that the fire occurred literally one week before my wedding and they handled my event with the utmost professionalism and grace. i would never have known something was wrong if i hadn't showed up to render final payment and seen the disaster area for myself.

that probably impressed me more than anything else with them. if anyone seemed "grumpy" or disinterested" this is very likely the reason why.

it doesn't matter what happened, you don't treat clients like that, ever. there's no excuse for it. anyone that's in the retail business will tell you the same thing. no matter what's going on in your life or with the company, you treat the customer with respect and you're pleasant to them. if they're letting this issue cause them to be nasty to clients or potential clients it just shows how unprofessional they are.

Umm, no actually. They weren't interested in helping us back in the beginning of 2008. There's no reason to defend them, no one said anything bad about them. We just said they weren't helpful, the same as other girls said the same thing about Jimmy Dee.

wow ... not defending them, just stating an opinion ... conversation getting a little hardcore no?

I liked Big Apple when I met with them.  I wound up booking DJ Teddy Rauert....he did my cousin's wedding and he was great.  A bunch of my friends have used him.  He's from Long Island...happy to share his info with you if you want it.
