Poughkeepsie Train Station?

For those who had pictures there, did you need a permit?

    No permit needed, and it can be alot of fun!

    Actually, if you are shooting with a regular handheld camera, no permit is needed.  However, if you are going to use professional type equipment (tripod, lighting etc), then you will need a permit.

    I plan to shoot wedding photos at the station, and I contacted Metro-North's Corporate & Public Affairs Department (see FAQs for GCT - The lady there confirmed confirmed that a permit would be needed based on the parameters that i described above.

    I admit that I am less concerned about Poughkeepsie than GCT.  There are more people milling about to stop you from shooting if you don't have a permit. (I shot with my tripod around closing time one night.  They were shooting a tv show at the same time, so I guess the powers that be assumed that I was with the crew).

    We just showed up! I can't remember if my photog had a tripod or not.
