New York-Hudson Valley

Sad/Happy Day!

Hi girls!

So happy news first--I booked our venue! After seeing more wedding venues than a single human being should see in a year, Matt and I finally settled on a place. So that's the good news.

I got all teary-eyed on the way home, because of the sudden realization that not only am I getting married, but for the next year, I'll be a *bride.* Not something I ever really imagined would happen in my life...until I found Matt. :-)

The sad news is this--the venue is NOT in the HV after all. Dutchess golf was our top choice, but when we broke the news to the fam that we wanted to get married there, we got "barely repressed polite frowns" at having somewhere that they would have to drive to more than an hour.

In the end, the pros of having it in NJ are more than the pros of picking our HV wedding--partly bc our family will be more involved if we have it closer to them. And the reception site is lovely...

So here's my question. Over the last couple weeks, I've gotten really attached to this board! I don't always comment, but I've been reading and keeping up. And I went over to the NJ board, and well it just wasn't the same.

Our NJ wedding in Northern NJ (skyview golf club) will have a very Hudson Valley feel--just what we wanted. Rolling hills, an outdoor ceremony with a breathtaking view of a low valley, amazing cocktail hour, a nice hall, a great price... very country chic. (Will post pix on my blog soon)

So...even though I won't be able to share tips about DJs and photographers and HV related stuff, can I still hang around? :-)

Best,

Lisa
