I'm a bit bored and having issues with the search so I figured I'd make a cake poll. I need to set up some tastings soon but want to see what everyone else has done:

1. Where have you ordered your cake from? I Dream of Jeanne cakes.  Delicious and reasonably priced.
2. What flavor(s) will your cake be? Funfetti, Raspberry Truffle, and Costa del Sol (macadamia and passion fruit buttercream)
3. Did you do taste testings at any other bakeries? Nope. 
4. Did your cake come as a part of a package for your venue? No.
5. What makes your cake unique? Who doesn't love funfetti?!  Although I have seen other brides doing it.  We are keeping the decoration very simple (3 tiers, swiss dots).
6. How much do you love cake? I am actually pretty neutral about just regular vanilla and chocolate cake with frosting.  But nice moist cake covered with yummy flavored buttercream or ganache...ah-yum!

Vanilla Butter cake with Raspberry and Lemon butter cream filling (alternating layers of filling)

3. Did you do taste testings at any other bakeries?

Yes, 2 others

4. Did your cake come as a part of a package for your venue?

Nope

5. What makes your cake unique? 
It's actually really simple...4 tiers with triple swiss dots and ribbon around the base of each layer

6. How much do you love cake? 

I don't love ALL cakes, but I love amazing tasting cakes and am very partial to vanilla or chocolate with amazing fillings

Konditor Meister.  I'm SO excited, just did it this weekend!

2. What flavor(s) will your cake be?
We're getting 3 layers.  Bottom will be strawberry grand marnier (with fresh strawberries, yum!), top 2 will be lemon citron.

3. Did you do taste testings at any other bakeries?
Yes, tried Montilio's and Icing on the Cake (Newton).  My reviews are posted a few down.

4. Did your cake come as a part of a package for your venue?
Yes, those 3 vendors were included.  KM was the best and also the only one where we could get everything we wanted for no extra charge (bonus!).

5. What makes your cake unique?
Nothing really.  We copied a design from a book.  But it will be gorgeous and delicious I hope! 

6. How much do you love cake?
I'm more excited about the cake than I thought I would be!!!  Mainly because it tasted so good, which is the most important part to me.  I can't wait to eat it... our anniversary layer may not last very long.

Yes - 3

No

5. What makes your cake unique?
They were cupcakes, which really aren't that unique anymore.  Had small flowers on each one that matched our decor.

6. How much do you love cake?
They were delicious!!!  And we devoured all of the leftovers :-)

1. Where have you ordered your cake from?
The Bean Counter Bakery in Shrewsbury

2. What flavor(s) will your cake be?
Vanilla cake with white chocolate filling, chocolate cake with dark fudge filling, and carrot cake with cream cheese filling - those are the three layers.

3. Did you do taste testings at any other bakeries?
Yes, our venue offered a couple different bakeries. This cake was by far the tastiest. 

4. Did your cake come as a part of a package for your venue?
Yes.

5. What makes your cake unique? 
Well, when we designed it the baker said she was excited to do something a little different so I guess its a little out of the normal range. But, its all over white buttercream, with thick brown stripes on the bottom and top layer, and then big varying sized polka dots on the middle layer.

6. How much do you love cake? 
I'm not even really a baked goods/cake/sweets person but this cake was delicious!

I loooved our cake, so here goes:
1. Where have you ordered your cake from?
Hippie Chick Bakery in NH (she delivered to Cambridge).
Her cakes are amazing--very tall and elegant--4 layers of cake, 3 layers of cream in each tier.  Fresh berries between the layers if you choose a fruit flavor (no upcharge).  Gorgeous design work. Good prices.
2. What flavor(s) will your cake be?
Chocolate raspberry, vanilla blueberry, and chocolate with dark chocolate fondant.
3. Did you do taste testings at any other bakeries?
nope.  have experienced other bakers at other weddings we attended, and felt her cake was better.
4. Did your cake come as a part of a package for your venue?
nope
5. What makes your cake unique?
It was a bit of a playful design with a combination of stripes (blue and green), small polka dots (on another layer), and small vertical vines  with little fondant hydrangea blossoms on it.  I'm not explaining it well, but it was cute and fun without being overly wacky.
6. How much do you love cake?
THIS much! Can't wait to get an anniversary slice soon!  woohoo!

We are doing two flavors - one gold w/raspberry chambord and the other gold with lemon

Nope

Yes and I didn't even go over what was included!
5. What makes your cake unique?
Maybe that it is very traditional - I feel like I don't see a lot of "traditional" cakes anymore - mine will have white frosting with ivory designs
6. How much do you love cake?
I can take it or leave it for the most part

2. What flavor(s) will your cake be? buttermilk cinnamon spice cake with layers of almond buttercream and middle layer of salty/sweet crunchy almonds

5. What makes your cake unique? we went for a great fall flavor instead of a normal 'wedding cake' flavor.. we also wanted it to look rustic, like our wedding feel and not perfectly pristine
6. How much do you love cake?eh, I could have done without (didn't feel the need to have a cake) it but it DID end up be freaking delicious!!

5. What makes your cake unique?

I don't know if our cake per se was unique, although I did fiddle around with the existing flavors to make up my own with the marble cake.  I think what really made our cake unique was that I had it served with a side of Carvel ice cream cake.  So yummy!

 
6. How much do you love cake? 

Um, almost more than my DH.  Maybe more.  It depends on the day

1. Where have you ordered your cake from?  Konditor Meister. They were wonderful, they even threw in a free gluten free Chocolate Decadence cake for DH, who has Celiac.

2. What flavor(s) will your cake be? First layer was Strawberry Grand Marnier (yellow cake with white chocolate mousse and fresh cut strawberry filling), layers 2 & 3 were tiramisu, and top layer was carrot cake. Yum!

3. Did you do taste testings at any other bakeries? Nope (see #4)

4. Did your cake come as a part of a package for your venue? Yup!

5. What makes your cake unique? We kept the design simple, but we wanted to pay homage to both growing up by the sea, so even though it was mid-January, we had chocolate seashells as a topper.

6. How much do you love cake? I freaking love cake! Seriously, I'm more of a salty girl than sweet, but cake is definitely a weakness!

Well, we met with The Icing on the Cake, and with Aunty Ellen's, but Aunty Ellen's didn't provide samples...

If we had done a package, it would have been included, but we decided to go off package so we had the option to choose our own baker
5. What makes your cake unique?
Don't think it will be really unique.. it's cake!
6. How much do you love cake?
LOTS! I can't wait to taste our cake at our wedding

2. What flavor(s) will your cake be? Summer Breeze (lemon zest cake with white chocolate buttercream filling and blueberries and frosted with lime buttercream), strawberry orange blossom, and raspberry cream for the wedding cake. (Red velvet for FI's grooms cake)
3. Did you do taste testings at any other bakeries? No.
4. Did your cake come as a part of a package for your venue? No packages at my venue. CTR is their preferred vendor if you want the cost of your cake to come out of your F&B minimum. If you aren't concerned about F&B then you can go with any bakery.
5. What makes your cake unique? It's a design they made specifically for my venue... just tweaking it a litle in terms of what kinds of sugar flowers are used.

2. What flavor(s) will your cake be?
5 tiers - top two are chocolate, peanut butter, and fresh bananas; then tiramisu; pumpkin with cream cheese filling; and chocolate with fresh raspberry mousse.

3. Did you do taste testings at any other bakeries?
Nope - we loved the first one, and it came in under budget even with so many tiers, so we stopped there!

4. Did your cake come as a part of a package for your venue?
Nope!

5. What makes your cake unique? 
The pb/chocolate/banana layers maybe?  The design we combined from a few photos I found of cakes with cris-crossed ribbons of varying widths and in our colors...hmm, hard to explain - photos below!

6. How much do you love cake?
Alllmost as much as I love FI

1. Where have you ordered your cake from?  Speciality Wedding Cakes by Heather Laplante, very moist cake super good!!
2. What flavor(s) will your cake be?  Vanilla Cake with Raspberry Buttercream frosting (bottom layer), chocolate fudge cake with a stripe of vanilla buttercream frosting and a stripe of chocolate buttercream frosting (middle double layer), and top anniversary layer is Reeses Peanut Butter (chocolate Fudge Cake with a Peanut Butter Frosting

4. Did your cake come as a part of a package for your venue?  No
5. What makes your cake unique?  It has a double middle layer. I'm having it as an exact copy of the cake  below but with a navy ribbon
 6. How much do you love cake?  um it's the best part of any celebration!!

1. Where have you ordered your cake from?

Danish Pastry House, in Medford.

2. What flavor(s) will your cake be?

Almond with bavarian cream and raspberry jam, and a chocolate cake/chocolate mousse.  All covered in marzipan.  (There will be a small side cake that is nut-free.)  As much as some of the alcohol-soaked flavors sound awesome, we wanted someplace that managed moist without it, since there will be lots of little kids at the wedding.

3. Did you do taste testings at any other bakeries?

Nope.  Looked at Hippie Chick, but they're all nut-free, and I really wanted something with nuts, and had a bad experience trying to set up a tasting with Modern Pastry, so never got back to them.  Have had Konditor Meister at another wedding and was unimpressed (it wasn't bad, just nothing special). 

4. Did your cake come as a part of a package for your venue?

Nope.

5. What makes your cake unique?

Marzipan is fairly uncommon in place of fondant/buttercream?  Otherwise, we weren't going for especially unusual.  Just tasty. 

6. How much do you love cake?

Lots!

I think I had 3 pieces of wedding cake at my reception. I deserved it.

2. What flavor(s) will your cake be?  2 layers will be Lemon cake w/ lemon french filling, and 2 layers will be White cake w/ raspberry creme filling.
3. Did you do taste testings at any other bakeries?  Yes - Cakes for Occasions in Danvers
4. Did your cake come as a part of a package for your venue?  Yes and we did not pay to upgrade.
5. What makes your cake unique?  I've never had lemon cake at a wedding.  Also our cake topper will look like us
6. How much do you love cake?  It was one of my favorite things to cross off the list.  Cake tastings were awesome!

Another unique thing about our cake is that the top tier is elevated on pillars.  I loved that about Kristen's cake and wanted it for ours.  It's pretty uncommon these days.
