Reasonably priced hotels in Boston/Cambridge?

Where are your OOT guests staying? I'm trying to recommend a hotel in Boston or Cambridge that isn't outrageously expensive. Any suggestions? (I know that there are web sites that compare prices, but I thought I'd ask here too). Thanks!

Re: Reasonably priced hotels in Boston/Cambridge?

  • I used the hotel planner website to compare and set it up--that ended up being much easier than contacting the hotels we were considering one by one. I found it really easy to use, and in the end, you work with the hotel directly, but it was great to have a central site to see all the different rates the hotels could offer. Our ceremony is here in the city, but the reception is at the Endicott Estate in Dedham, so we did one block of rooms at the Park Plaza at $239, and the other at the Holiday Inn in Dedham for $139. Our wedding is the same weekend as the Head of the Charles this year, so we're feeling lucky with the $239 rate! In the end, it was a pretty easy process.

    Good luck!

  • What's the website's address?
  • I'm getting married at the Four Seasons but wanted to give my guests plenty of options.  We booked room blocks at the Four Seasons, Park Plaza, Charlesmark, Hotel 140, and the new boston hostel (private room options).  I was nervous about the hostel, but visited it and it's gorgeous!  The latter two have been the picks of many of the groom's and my friends, as well as some of the adults :)

  • You should also talk to the sales managers at the hotels you are interested in. Alot of places were offering a pretty substantial discount from the rates we could see online.

  • Our "wedding hotel" of choice is the Hotel Marlowe in Cambridge.  It's on public transportation, also has both garage and valet parking and is absolutely gorgeous.  It's a Kimpton brand, and the folks who work there offer exceptional customer service.  It's a smaller, boutique hotel, and a real bang for your buck.  We got a room block in November for $169.00 per night for a standard room, and even the base rooms feel luxurious.  It's also right next to the Cambridgeside Galleria Mall with lots of options for things folks forget, food etc.  I can't say enough good things about it.  We've stayed there and been part of multiple weddings and events at the property.   All were fabulous.
  • Kendall Hotel.  I highly recommend it.
  • The bullfinch?
