bartenders hourly rate?

I need a bartenders for my wedding.  I contacted one that was on the vendor list and his rate is $30 an hour not including tips.  He also charges an extra hour for set up... Does this seem expensive or reasonable??

Are you providing the alcohol?  I think this seems very reasonable, especially considering you will save so much from providing your own.  Make sure he isn't going to put a tip jar out, typically when its open bar, the hosts take care of the tips.

Its reasonable especially if they are TIPS certified and/or insured.  A good question to ask from what I hear is if they require that you let them put out a tip jar.  I know some brides are completly against them doing it, and some bartenders wont take the job unless they can. Just something t think about.
