Marriott Long Wharf Experiences/Opinions?

Any opinions on this hotel and working with the people?  I would love to hear the good, the bad, and the ugly.  My FI and I have looked all over Boston/ Cambridge and NH for a more modern venue feel and after seeing place after place I am leaning towards this venue but would love to hear other peoples opinions and experiences first.

Thanks!

I looked at it and wasn't too impressed. I didn't get any further than that.
My biggest concern, and I'm not sure if this pertains to you or not, was the ceremony area. When we walked in and realized that the hallways of the hotel were open to it, that pretty much did it and decided not to go with it.

I attended a wedding there in June. I have no idea what is important to you so here's my random list. lol

    Pros
    • The cocktail hour was in a really cool place--bright, high ceilings, lots of room.
    • The food was decent.
    • Great location
    • Tons of space in the ballroom.
    • Adequate dance floor
    • They had a Friday wedding and got a good deal from what I remember, especially since vendors were included in the package.
    • Great bathrooms.
    • Attentive service

    Cons
    • If you do a cash bar, the drinks are ridiculously priced.
    • The decorations get lost in the big ball room.  The carpet  consumes the room; if your colors match it, awesome. If not, it is awful and takes away from the other decor.

Deborah-  what does decent food mean to you?  And do you remember what they had?  I am worried that the food might not be that good because it is just "another Marriott"  compared to another hotel.

Does anyone know of a way to taste the food before booking?

    Thanks!

Decent food means I remember that I wasn't disgusted and I ate my whole meal, but I wasn't so impressed that I remember it.   I think this may have been the wedding where I was surprised and that the food was better than I thought it would be. I think we were only offered the chicken.  I remember they did their food tasting at Oceana, the restaurant upstairs. Maybe it's the same food...ask about that.

To be honest, I remember being pleasantly surprised by the whole venue, and the major negatives that stuck out to me waere the carpet and that the tables, etc. didn't seem to fill the room. The ballroom felt huge!
