The state room

Has anyone been to or had their wedding at the Stateroom--- in the smaller room? We have a small wedding, and the larger room is not an option- we were wondering how the view was and if it was a big negative that they hold two events at the same time.

Also, any other info you woudl like to share would be greatly appreciated !

I loved the state room. Had 3 meetings with them. Told them our budget ahead of time.. Then had them finally tell us that the minimum was 10,000 over our budget and the only way they could work with us was to have a wednesday or thurday wedding. I was so upset with how they dragged us on into falling in love with it and then dropped that on us. The view from the smaller room looks right smack dab into another building. The large room however looks over water and the clock tower. Sun hardly got into the city side. However the large room was beautiful and the food was awesome there at their open house!

We considered the State Room but ultimately decided to get married in Newport at Belle Mer which is another Longwood Events property.

Jacquikev might be alking about a different room that what you are asking about.  They have the large room with the double floor window and then they have a cityside room and a harborside smaller room.  We were considering the harbor side smaller room because we too had a small wedding - around 80 people - and the big room would have been way too big.

If we had decided on a Boston wedding, we would have gone with the State Room.  The view is much better than anywhere else in the city I think.  I love the modern feel of the State Room and really didn't want a hotel ballroom wedding so it would have been our best fit.

Regarding two weddings at a time....Belle Mer also had two weddings going on at a time and we never saw the other wedding people and we didn't hear them either.  With that said, I do think that your guests would share bathrooms at the State Room with the other wedding.  This would not bother me at all but some people really don't like the idea of two weddings.  I never really understood why because you will have your own dedicated event coordinator, staff, servers, etc.  I guess some brides don't want to share their day with another?  I'd be more the type to give the girl a hug but to each their own right.

Longwood Events is great though.  The service was amazing, our event coordinator was awesome, etc. etc.  Let me know if you have any other questions about them!
