Contacting vendors

I'm kind of laid back when dealing with vendors.  We did our homework, picked people we loved who had great reviews and I trust they know all the details of the wedding and will show up on time.  That said, I haven't talked to many of them since the summer.

Did you (or are you going to) touch base with your vendors before the wedding just to make sure everyone is on the same page?  If so, how far in advance is appropriate?  Or should I just know that everything is set and not worry about it?

I am the same way-- I feel like I picked vendors who know what their doing so I won't get in the way. I always ask them when I should get in touch with them again. Most of them it's basically a month or two before the wedding. Caterer we are meeting again next month (for Oct. wedding). Maybe just touch base with all the major ones and ask them when you need to talk details? As long as you have a contract, they should be showing up :)

I would definitely re-confirm details and timing with each of your vendors a month out. I know I spoke to some of them multiple times leading up to the big day - and some of them contacted me before I could get to them. GL!

I've kept in touch with my photographer and videographer since I had both of them do some work for me outside of our wedding contracts.  My other vendors I haven't spoken to yet.  Most told me about 6-8 weeks before the wedding I'll be hearing from them and narrowing down our details.

Agreed.  I would definitely not just "trust they will show up".  I'd contact them all at least 4 weeks out to be sure you are on schedule.  Also, since many require the last payment before the wedding, you will probably be talking to them at that time anyway.

However, between when we've booked them and a few months before the wedding, I wouldn't necessarily bother them unless you have a specific question.

My wedding is the week before yours and I just started contacting my vendors again recently.  A few I already started scheduling meetings with for April/May.  Some are more important/urgent than others.  For the church, I've already met with them and don't need to do much more until a week or so ahead of time.  But we still need to finalize our menu for the reception and flowers for our ceremony.  I have my first fitting next week, and have been in contact with my DOC about the details.  I'd say if you are unsure, just call/E-mail and ask when you want to schedule your final meeting.  Since June is such a busy month for wedding vendors, some may want to do it sooner than later, or you might want to book early for the best meeting times.

    Thanks ladies :)

jkepros - I have a fitting next week too!  I'm wicked excited, you must be too!

I'll start contacting everyone within the next week or so.  I've touched base with a few people, like our DJ and venue, but I'll get in touch with the others.
