Splurging on your wedding gown?

Normal 0 Normal 0 I allotted an amount that I thought was reasonable to spend on my wedding gown. Today, I brought my mother for the first time to view some wedding gowns I had narrowed my search down to. The last dress I tried on for her, Monique Lhuillier- Wallis, I warned my mother that it was well outside of my budgeted amount. When I walked out with the gown on my mother could not stop swooning and crying- the same reaction I had the first time I tried it on.  She insisted that I get the gown and even offered to pay for it. Very generous of her but I can't fathom my parents dipping into their retirement fund to buy my wedding gown. I am sure this is a predicament many brides have. I think it might be a bit much for a dress I would wear for ONE day of my life. Granted, one of the biggest days of a woman's life...but I am sure you ladies understand what I am getting at. Bit the bullet and buy your dream dress, or be financially reasonable? This is the dress if you are curious:http://weddings.theknot.com/weddingdress/bs_results_localpop.aspx?object=1233781926184320&path1=weddinggowns&GownType=1&path2=savedsearch&savedsearch=1

BostonGirl82 - Did you buy the dress?  I fell in love with the Wallis and I agree, it is very expensive.  I am in the same situation that you are.  When is your wedding?  Mine is next year.  Maybe we could work something out.  Please reply. Thanks

If your wedding is still a year a way you could wait......If you do not mind being the one wearing the used dress, I am sure there will be some available between now and then. She is a very popular designer and I am pretty sure that dress will be somewhat popular. Oncewed.com and preownedweddingdresses.com would be good places to watch.
