La Mirage

I'm getting married in September 2012, but I'd like to book my venue before the end of the year. I was wondering if anyone has any experiance with La MIrage (good or bad) and if they book this early. Also, for any venue do you need to leave a deposit at the time of booking?

Never heard of La Mirage, but I booked my venue 1 1/2 in advance. Not sure if it depends on the place, but I would assume they would book you by the end of the year. And yes, as psichick said, you will need to leave a deposit to hold your date.

I posted about this place a few months ago and I don't think anything good was said about it.

Have you looked at reviews online from other people? I don't remember them being very flattering.

The prices there are fantastic though. Almost too good to be true...

i do know that this place is up for sale. if you book with them now and it gets sold, the new owners may not honor it. i wouldnt want to chance that.

Thank you for the replies. My Maid of Honor got married there about 5 years ago and I thought it was small but nice and the prices are fantastic. The price is really what was drawing me to the place, but now I'm really thinking twice about it.

I have never been to this venue, but I do remember seeing their ads and I just checked their website. The prices they display are really good, but if pp said they are in the process of being sold, you might want to look elsewhere. The new owner could honor the package that was signed, but they do not need to do so. Even if they honor if, no guarantees the place would be up and running (if they decided to do renovations) before your wedding. But, the thing is, do you want that stress the months before your wedding?

The Poughkeepsie Grand last year had an economic stimulus package with prices that were close, and also Anthony's catering in Hopewell Junction also has packages which are close. And Four Brothers restaurant in Mahopac has a beautiful party room with prices in that range. Also, look around at restaurants in the area (and even catering halls) to see what they can offer you. You have plenty of time, so you want to start looking now. Besides, you never know if a place will negotiate until you ask. (Sometimes even the slightest things, less passed items, one less course, at a restaurant offing to pay a consumption liquor tab) can bring down the price a lot! It never hurts to ask.

But yes, like all pp's said, when you book a place, they expect a deposit. Can be anywhere from $500, $1000 or $2000 to up to 25% of what the overall cost will be. Our place had a $1000 deposit.

    Good luck! Keep us posted!

I live really close to there and have not heard good things. My friend got married there about 3 years ago.. They double booked her room so she ended up having to get married in the middle of the Restaurant instead of the ballroom she had picked out. There were unwilling to give her back any of her money and were not apologetic at all. The second thing has to do with having dinner there, not a wedding.. My soon to be father in law had dinner there and got a tiny little steak.. The host came over and asked if everyone enjoyed there dinner, he said he would have liked a bigger piece of meat. (This is a man who usually never complains, so it must have been small). The Host actually told him if he wanted alot of food to go to mcdonalds!!  Im getting married at the Stonehedge in West Park..Its like 20 minutes down the road from this place and there prices are AWSEOME! I would check them out. Hope that helped.
